^^^you forgot number 8
8.kite designer falls for over-confidence of majority, builds kite, sells a dozen then goes broke....posts his demise, seabreezians go awwww! what a shame, we never saw it coming...
there ya go rowds, I'll be ya wingman.
It's odd that not one poster has made a mention about the board in the pic. ^^^
Hey Rowdy, any comments mate ?
I guess you have probably ridden a similar board to the one in the photo.
I've owned a couple of plastic bags in my time and feel confident in my ability to judge their performance.
Most of them launched and flew better than my LF Havoc, except when they were full of groceries.
And NONE of them had struts! Check mate.![]()
I had an 8m LF Havoc and a mate had a 10m LF Havoc and they are by far the most useless kites (aka plastic bags) I have ever flown. They may as well have been 2 line kites becuase the back lines go slack as soon as its above 14 knots.
Time to eat your words ROWDY -Here's a video of a strutless kite that flies well in big surf and high winds. ![]()
Guys I've just got back from testing my new strutless prototype, it sits a bit low in the window but I definitely think I'm on to something here. Please let me know what you think!
Wow can't believe I'm the only one that's worked it out after three pages of the same people pretending to argue , Your all a bunch of trolls working for this dude! Pretty obvious really I just want to know how much he paid? And did you get a bonus for getting it to three pages ! ![]()
I'm here in South Africa at the moment (Muizenberg) and a certain manufacturer (which I won't name) appear to be testing prototypes of a strutless kite on almost every light wind day. I haven't seen it actually get off the beach and into the water yet, but so far it looks like a total waste of cloth
. Even in sub 15knots the canopy is fluttering all over the place.
I personally can't wait till all the noobs are flying strutless plastic bags getting them wrapped up in the waves whilst I'm sitting pretty with a stable, rigid 5 strut design
.
To the Boardsports Maui guy: I had been following the strutless kite thread on K.F. but only sort of skimming through, everyone was ultra positive and I wanted to try one. It got boring though because no-one really had any strong opinions. This Rowdy guy loudly bagging on your design was another story. I read his posts several times, laughing. I read all the responses too. Several times, it's a lot more interesting when someone sticks their neck out and has something to say. In the end it only made me more interested in how the kite will perform. That's the reason I like this forum, people are very opinionated and it's more funny this way, I wouldn't take it personally. It sure got me reading about your design. And I really value the tacit dubious posts, it saves me money if I can learn what really works and what doesn't before I shell out the cash for something. I want to try this kite even more now, but I want to know how it flies in all conditions before I buy one. A lighter, cheaper kite with more low end is what I need. It also needs to keep it's shape if it gets into a turbulent lee area up against the cliffs. Make us a kite that does it all and many people will buy it.
Yep it's the Australian away. Slagging the complete farq out of one another then having a beer and laugh the next day together followed by more insults and abuse. if you haven't given your mate Sh1t he's not ya mate.
In all of those still images I do not see fluttering.
Although the stills show me it doesn't move fast.
An alternative board and an alternative kite -
It makes me think about those smelly bearded hippies who surf fat single fin boards, and whack on a trippy 1970's style wetsuit for extra style, because that makes the board perform better.
These guys are so future driven.
