Flipper, Maybe she could have a double wedding with you and KOP. Go back to kiter bashing on the poleys forum ya goose
Hi Flipper & Co. - Alfred007 has already offered to be my hero (even with a white horse! That's my secret dream since I was a little girl) - so first come, first serve, isn't it?
My evo is... well... colorful... but has so far flown (and fallen) in Sydney only - so anywhere else you are looking for another princess you can be a hero for :-)
Will this tread die "naturally" now?
I have done what I intended to:
- publicly apologize (as I know that these sort of mistakes are not acceptable, could have caused a terrible, terrible accident and ban of kiting at Botany)
- explaining what happened without making excuses
- search for the person who prevented a disaster and possibly saved lives by reacting fast and get the kite from the street (he obviously didn't get my point and doesn't accept an apology or thank, a pity - so well I will drink all the beer by myself)
Thanks for reading and contribution

There was another guy who tried to launch his Ozone C-class 13-meter kite in 25 knots gusts half inflated without harness and without leash. I was lucky to catch his arm before serious things might happen.
You’ve copped the frustration from kiters across the country. Just suck it up and get out there and have fun again. I’m sure you will be attaching your leash from now on and you will be a bit more careful. Remember, it’s not about that loss of your kite, it’s the damage it can cause to others from your negligence, ignorance, .....well you can imagine the rest.
Some of us have been kiting for about a decade and more, and at many beaches we started facing restrictions or even threats of kite-bans in recent years. All just because of an increase of such - as some may say - mistakes that everyone once had. Well, that’s exactly why we have restrictions now.
But see it this way, by keeping the thread open you might help someone else to remember to do the necessary checks, attach a leash, hook in and check again before launching. Apart from some blind dates (good luck) you are now contributing to a bit more safety awareness.
Now you have all this attention that you were chasing all along can you please leave my beer under the bridge.
- Over to you Stabbs.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ youve come in a bit late! But.... the good news is , you could be up for a reward root!!! aka 'the hero' has been found ![]()
Funnily, most of the really bad stories (like mine or even worse with people hurt) I hear on the phone or via email - do you think there are more people out there to post their accidents so that others can learn from them? Let's see, I am very curious.
running some sort of kitemare log would be great fodder for authorities looking at banning the sport from a beach near you (or me) ..... so bury the stories and learn how to do it safely - away from the public
