I have previously worked in the kite and windsurf industry.
The day people start giving a bit back is the day the industry will support them.
(this includes buying from local stores, not naming and shaming brands for simple warranty issues and selling second hand gear for reasonable prices).
---
Whether you bought second hand gear from a private seller, an online OS store or a guy at the beach, they all come with inherit dangers.
Yes it was unfortunate that the original poster of this topic, didn't get what he thought was originally ordered. And yes this case was to the extreme.
But this would not have happened if he went to a store.
Surely the extra $$ you pay, outweighs the odds of getting something not in the description.
I'm sick of reading people's crazy uneducated, tight arse replies so I'm done with this topic.
YORT
I hope you get the 2009 kite you originally ordered.
I hope the extra $50 you saved was worth it and I hope next time you consider using the expertise of your local shop and its staff.
After all if you don't buy gear off them, they close down and if they close down we wont have a sport.
Happy weekend frothers.
enjoy your ebay bargains.
The shops don't want to buy your second hand gear. So what do you do with it?
Works both ways, but wankers who sell dodgy equipment and missrepresent the goods online need to be outed.
Well joyrider may have upset a few, but there is some validity in what he is saying. There is some truth in all arguments here. Although I've bought online, second hand online and through retailers. Although not for the last 3 years and Not into the foreseeable future. I do enjoy the relationship you develop with the retailer and also helping support the local industry.
That being said, there are some crew that just can't honestly afford buying from a retailer who have to have their margins to operate and /or the local person is not someone they want to deal with. Some crew don't even have a local retailer, hence I see no problem with them working through different channels personally.
So I feel we shouldn't judge, everyone's circumstance is different and also as a community online, try to support and do what we can to make all purchases valid.
I know I have sold a lot of gear on Seabreeze ...and regretfully I mean a lot!, as the price you can get is better than through a trade in....because remember a shop has to wear that trade in price until they sell it!, hence they have much better margins to play with if you walk in with cash and buy outright.
Hope you get this problem sorted and well done for notifying the community here to keep us all vigilant.
As an unethical seller myself, I find this thread highly defamitory, and personally offensive(not to mention it makes me feel bad)....I may sue.![]()
Thanks everyone for you comments.
I noticed a business name on the sent from address on the box and googled the business to get a contact number. I spoke to someone from the business who said that the "guy" was in a meeting and so I left a message. The "guy" texts me back later that day saying, "Hi, I've just got a note passed to me saying you have called. I'm in meetings all day. I'm just the sender of the kite. I will forward you the details of the guy you need to get in touch with". ![]()
That was sent Wednesday and it is now Sunday and still nothing.
I am going to give him one last chance today and let him know that if he doesn't refund my money (at least have a conversation about this) his identity will be disclosed on this forum including the business and location for the sake of protecting others and hopefully taking away his privilege to sell stuff on this forum. I'm sure they might be other users of this site who may know this person if I have to reveal their identity.
I will also look into the fair trading option, as there was blatant misrepresentation of what the item was with it being a 2006 and advertised as a 2009.
OK. This bloke is continuing to ignore me, so......
His name is Chris from Geraldton WA.
His online name is Bulldag and he posted the item from "Hosexpress" in Geraldton.
He still has a 2009 7m Best Waroo for sale on this site (although it's probably a 2006). So there are further details there on that advertisement.
Hopefully his ripping off days will be over, at least for this site.
If I bought anything from "ho sexpress" I'd ensure it was about a half hour service......... not a kite![]()
I agree it was outing time if he ignored your questions, and the so called "i only mailed it" guy was playing ducks n drakes too
I bought a kite of the internet not long ago not.as.described has damage and said no damage etc its dissapointing when the courier drops.of and you see it like that sending back for.a.refund
If I buy a kite sight unseen, I pay 50% before sending and 50% after I have received it and confirmed it is as described. Bit of trust needed on both sides but the seller is unlikely to misrepresent if there is a risk they will loose out. I haven't used pay pal but believe it has a pretty robust complaints and reimbursement mechanism.
