No probs I will just add it to my drivers license, my car ergo, my caravan rego, my trailor rego, my fishing license, my skippers ticket, my crayfish license , my Wankcot rego as a teacher, my working with kids and police clearance fees, my council fees, my water rates, my health insurance, my life insurance, my car, trailor, caravan and house insurance, my diver ticket my......a kiting license hey. Yeh good one.
The only fix is to ban kiting in Perth
, you rednecks over there are giving all of us a bad name and will destroy kitesurfing Australia wide.![]()
Lucky you guys dont have daylight savings, imagin how much more damage you could do if you had an extra hour of daylight every day.![]()
I think that it would be an absolute pain in the bottom, if I went to kite in another country, and had to have lessons, tests, then get numbers painted on my kite, and of course pay somebody to organize all that crap.
If kite surfers have to get licensed.... let's make sure surfers, swimmers, bike riders, skateboarders, dog walkers, car passengers and skiers all have to have licences, annual tests, insurance, gear checks, and set up a national fun police organisation to make us pay big fines... we should also increase taxation on all kitesurfing gear because of how unsafe they are.....
But seriously folks..... there are no requirements, there's no requirement to be a member of AKSA, there will never be a licencing requirement, there's no shutting down of any of the good kiting beaches... it's all sweet. I had a fantastic kite at woodies 4 days ago, some1 lost there kite and another person retrieved it for them... there's no substitute for common sense. Get in it!
"Who Wants to be a Registered Kiter"
No-one when you get this sort of response ![]()
Approached a guy flying & self landing his flysurfer kite on the carpark grass at Contacios (nth end of Scarbs) today. Apparently demonstrating how it works.
Approach was as friendly as possible explaining that the issue to retain kiting at Brighton (sth end of (Scarbs) a few years back was a very agreeable compromise with council. Kiters would self regulate to prevent kiters from flying their kites at 12 while walking through the dunes to the grass area to pack down. The council would widen the walkway to accomodate kiters walking landed kites to the grass area for pack down.
All good ever since with almost 100% compliance.
Rather than accepting that this was a reasonable expectation of kiters the two concerned accused me of looking for an argument and that I was not prepared to listen to their arguments that it was only a once off, there was no-one around (but there was) and that the kite was misbehaving anyhow so it wasnt a problem. WTF.
I tried to point out that one kite there today - in front of no less than 5 vans of teuros - would indicate to anyone that it was probably OK.
I ws dismissed by person 2 suggesting they just agree (but totally ignore) what I was saying.
Its a tough call laying yourself on the line - but please dont let this dissuade you. Its essential that the stupidity of irresponsible behaviour as blatant as this is pointed out. Despite their dismissive response Im pretty sure they wont do it again.
No problem with the teeth (yet) Slack. Thanks all the same. ![]()
Its just trying to remember what all these damn rules are thats becoming a problem![]()
Imagine registering a kiter and then having anally retentive people checking on each other. No thanks.... If you think like that then go play golf. Kiting is about freedom, life and love of water, not stupid rules, committees, sniping, dress codes etc. Get real and be nice to everyone...
The only way you will stop idiots from kiting in the middle of crowded beaches, is to introduce an idiot tax. That will solve everything for sure.
I propose that we introduce a pay per mile system?
All in favour ?
Well I think we can all agree that the club idea is the best idea... Who's keen? How do we get this on the way and what is the best structure for it?
