I have developed a love for powered, hooked in (mostly kiteloop based) tricks and my imagination has run dry.
So, I'm putting the call out there to anyone with some interesting grab/spin/kiteloop/transition combos
Not really interested in unhooking or board-offing.
Some examples...
Stalled 1 handed forward roll, landing with a downloop/transition, popping straight off the water again into a kiteloop back roll.
nose grab forward roll with reversed kiteloop transition (ie land going back the other way with 2 twists in the lines.
classic double backroll with single kiteloop.
toeside backroll kiteloop transition with a hand drag.
Anyway, I'm starting to sound like a tosser.
Suggestions box is officially open...
powered hey, how about all those board tricks like edging with just the nose or tail or dragging just the nose of the board in the water behind you on transitions or whatever. And best of all.. jesus walk and stuff like that. Is this stuff advanced enough? I reckon all those tricks would be heaps fun and look good and be hooked in and powered and with looping when you want.
Airial transition grabbing a beer off your mate standing on the beachside. Make sure he wares a helmet. ![]()
I have been attempting the jesus walk with mixed results, and butterslides are good fun. I might look into the nose drag stuff, have not seen that before.
And thank you, Smedg, for an actual suggestion. I was getting worried there for a second.
Don't get me wrong dude, I'm glad you are trying to progress but I wouldn't exactly call butterslides and nosedrags advanced tricks. Barefooting is kinda hard sometimes I guess. I think the hardest thing you can do hooked in is some out of control spinning combined with some sort of crazy board off not using a handle, that is about as close to advanced hooked in as you can get I would say.
Just putting it out there, but maybe it's time for you to try unhooked stuff? It's not all super hard and it doesn't have to be spin to win type stuff. There is only so much you can do tethered to the bar.
i got to say aswell i would go down the board off path if big air, hooked in was my choice, they are suprisingly fun and harder than you'd think, i mess around with one footers and such stuff when its rediculously windy and im bored. sounds like you got most of the kiteloop variations down, there are only so many possibilities with kiteloops hooked in.
What I really wanna know is how does Charl have more posts than Rowdy if he only posts in his defence or to back him up each time?
Time to start proper wakeboarding boys, you know the real wake guys think your a bunch of try hard wankers don't ya.
Kiting is kiting not wakeboarding.
@Sandman
I realise you want to stay hooked, but just for the record you dont need to do a "handle pass" when unhooked, there are lots of other things you can practice first and make them smooth, rolls to revert etc...
If you want to progress further hooked in, why not just do another spin or a kiteloop? It seems pretty obvious to me as that is really the only option your leaving open.
@kiterman
Why would I want to start "proper wakeboarding"? what ever that means. I have a kite, I don't need a wakeboat, I have my own tow device that I can drive myself and get towed over as many ramps as I want. FOR FREE.
I know a fair few of Aussies best wakeboarders and last time I checked they didn't think I was a "try hard wanker", but what they couldn't work out was what people were doing flailing around in straps claiming tricks...
p.s.
Glad to see you know that "kiting is kiting" hahaha, least we know you graduated from primary school.
There were some boys on Seabreeze a while ago talking about multiple hooked in front rolls with forward kite loop and calling it the cannonball?
The thing with hooked in is you can't really change your rotation speed like you can when unhooked
Sandman
How about an indy grab tantrum to blind, followed by a blind back roll (landing blind again). Or maybe a back to blind, with a blind rewind.
Q. - I have developed a love for powered, hooked in (mostly kiteloop based) tricks and my imagination has run dry.
Hi mate ,you could try doing some of the more basic loops in stronger winds eg 38+.
Winds like that make me think twice before pulling the triger....![]()
Stop replying haha, didn't you read? he's left the building. He's so serious about it he deleted his avatar!!![]()
^^^^^^Na mate,
unless you ride in bindings, flying your kite below sea level doing flickie spinnie things,
your not cool and cant be having any fun,,,,,,apparently????![]()
