Waiman was fine, Torch got speared through the leading edge. Fist size hole. If you listen closely you can hear a pop as it hits the tree.
The guy has offered to pay to fix it so i have to give him credit for that.
I think they may have sped up the footage, i didn't think it happened that quickly.
are you calling SIR ANDY YATES a muppet ??

i was eating lunch across the road when it happend i didnt see the start of it but only from half way. And from when i started looking his ass was just getting owned and being draged across the park and no saftys were pulled and didnt even let go of the bar untill he desided to grab the tree. it was 30+knots that day and the tide was coming in. it just wasnt his day
@ Random - you were eating a timeout to
- I seen it as well how hectic was it, just seem him grab on to the tree like a squirel up his arse - idiot should of hit the safety!!! next thing his picked up, dragged some poor blokes kite with him into th tree and you running across the park - his lucky it was not alot worse!
There where only 8 rules when i signed up:
#1 - The first rule of Kite Club is, you do not talk about Kite Club.
#2 - The second rule of Kite Club is, you DO NOT talk about Kite Club.
#3 - If someone says stop, goes limp, taps out, the kite is over.
#4 - Two guys to launch/ land & fly a kite.
#5 - One kite per person at any time.
#6 - No shorts over wetties, no booties.
#7 - Kiters will go on as long as they have to.
#8 - If this is your first night at Kite Club, you have to kite.
Haa I was there too, don't think it was quite 30kts at the time, maybe 25... Dude wouldn't let go of the bar. I was facing the other way and heard his mate (who launched him) yelling let go of the bar...
The old deer in headlights problem. Whoever it was that said he should have held on so he could steer the kite... he *was* steering the kite... straight through the Naish and into a tree. Letting go is definitely a better option when it goes bad. I'm guessing he's learned that now. Just sayin.
Doesn't matter who he was.
Just goes to show that 25 knots + of cool, gusty SE winds in QLD are not to be taken complacently.
If your skills are not proficient, or if your gear is to big, IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK!!
Trees do not say sorry and your kite shows no loyalty. She just wants to fly.
When in doubt, don't go out!
hey scoobs that torch will never get past the dogs at customs now, and did u know the octopus system was not a drug utensil?
