Harsh. I'm sure a kite will be healthy. A good talk with a good friend will possibly be useful too. Whatever sympathy you get on this virtual forum will likely reinforce whatever biases you already have in your perception of these events. This may feel good in the short term, but will soon become sour and empty.

If, when the dust has settled, you can find the strength to seek out the other side of the story with humility and openness, you stand to learn a huge amount from what may now just seem like an awful mess. Not sure that this applies to your dog running away though. Perhaps the dog is just in hiding for a while having sensed a sh!tstorm approaching.

Compassion for self and others as this strange lotus unfolds.

Not sure if I have said it before or perhaps just thought it, BUT djdojo you are way too intelligent to be hanging around in these circles. It's only going to dumb you down.

If she had taken the kites it would mean that she wanted you back.

Mate, look on the positive side, you will be kiting more often now!

If it doesn't workout, at least make sure you get the little guy for the weekends. Kitesurfing with your dad would be one of the coolest things ever.

Hey Ben,

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. That sux! Don't worry about the woman, if she doesn't see your worth, then she isn't worth pining over and likely never was. The baby and the dog are the real tragedy in this one.

Look for the good in this event. Events or happenings, only take on a negative or positive meaning when we decide to apply a label of meaning to it, before then it has no meaning, it's just an event. So if you look at this event as a profound learning moment then you will take away a completely different meaning from it and as Djdojo says, you'll grow emotionally and spiritually.

In terms of the events of your entire life, this is another bump. Look for the learning in it, it may be hard to see from your current perspective, but look for it and you'll find it.

Leave the grog, it won't help, it'll just add a nasty hangover on top as the situation will still be there when you eventually sober up.

Cheers mate,

KH

PS. Love your philosophy dojo

Kitehard and DJ, the forum-shrinks. ^^^
All their psycho-babble about someones relationship of which they know zero.
Hey, let me take a wild guess too.
She probably caught you lying and cheating, dude...

slave is right though, people are commenting on a relationship they know nothing about.
maybe old mate treated her badly and she had enough and left him. maybe he kicked the dog every day.

Back to one of my favourite pastimes - picking up Waveslave when he is talking 5h!t:
1) KH opens up with Ben, so we must assume he knows H20, and therefore knows at least a little bit more than "zero"
2) you criticise KH and DJ for commenting on something about which they "know zero", and then you proceed to add your own 2 cents worth.
Back to the crank sites for you Slave ...

Hate to say it, but if you don't want a potentially negative response, don't post on a forum in the first place.
Having said that, assuming the original post is true, and whilst I know zero about you, commisserations

Ben,
Sorry to hear of your grief.
I have been through a similar situation (athough I did get to keep the dog).
Dojo & kitehard are on the money and I doubt I can improve on their comments. Talk it over with friends/family and just remember that even though your world may be falling around your ears, it WILL get better. Sometimes life brings us the lessons we need to learn, even the hard ones.

Kite when you can, and with every boost, leave behind a little bit of pain and bitterness in your wake. Avoid feeding the bitterness, as it only serves to poison you.

Some people say that time heals all wounds; but (and you probably won't be in the head space to hear this) it is actually forgiveness that heals.

It will be hard to see at the moment, but you are at the start of a pathway to growth; if you choose....

Good luck
