Going to start work up here in a couple weeks and was wondering how many crew there are up here and where to kite.
Is there anyone in the pluto camp kiting?
Is it worth bringing my car up?

Ive done a search and it only comes up with Portheadland, so leave the flamethrowers off

I just clicked on this because I need to say that this is a place similar to what it would be like if you lived on mars.
A total sh1t hole of the highest order, anyone that rates this place is a dick.

I've been up in Karratha for 16 months now. We get regular West to South-westers in Wet season and regular easterlies in the dry season.
So right now we have the easterlies pumping in. The best places are Cossack and Hearson’s cove this time of year. Hearson’s was a bit of fun today.
In the wet season a lot of guys go to Dampier after work. I've found Wickham back beach is the best for the Westerlies.
But if you can convince someone to get you to the islands, it is awesome out there.
Hope this helps.
Flux - Must be a half empty person. True it is no island paradise, but there is still plenty of kiting. Much better than being stuck in an inland mining site. Got to make the most of what you have.

Cossack was really nice today and the lanes between the sand bar sure made for some good kiting

winter = easterlies = hearsons cove and cossack
summer = westerlies = dampier and wickham

winter is the best season - summer is damn hot but some fun around cyclone time

Mate I don't think stating a fact defines me as being a knob.Do you.

Or does it mean that you in fact rate this place, therefore have some divine sense of protection for the joint?

I have been traveling via there for work some 15 years. I think I know the place and I'm pretty sure last time I looked....Yep a sh1t hole.

If you think the place is anything but what I have described it as then hats off to you, I still think you would class as a bit of a dick if you did rate the joint, no offense.

I was just having a bit of a laugh, there's not much kiting there it's a sh1t climate for it, but anyway feel free to blow hard about the place, unless you've lived in a shoe box all your life?
I can't really see how you would think the place nice but as some of the other guys posted I suppose you have to make the most of what you've got.

Was that kiting part of the video shot in the Dampier Archipelago? Which Island and bay was it. I've only been out there once and mainly hung around the East side of Rosemary Island. It is awesome out there and need to get out there more.

Thanks for sharing the vid I really enjoyed it, lived up that way on the coast (Point Samson) for a few years (before kiting was invented) which kinda makes me a dick as I rate the lifestyle up there as awesome particularly if you love the water, anyway again thanks, you've inspired me to go up again for a visit with some kiting gear

P.S. Anybody know who the sound track is ?

Got here the other day, thought I was only going to here a couple weeks so I left my kite behind, FAIL.
Going to be here for a month

Its a long shot but is anyone willing to make a couple bucks and bring a kite and board up from perf on the plane with them?
