Or you can just convince your other half that she needs to resume horse riding and to do this she needs to buy a house & piece of land down by the coast.

Its worked for me

I'm just home from a kite at Dixon Park beach, and I want to let you all in on a little secret.

I was out for about an hour with a few other guys, Mr Float being one of them.

Stopped on the beach to talk to Float when he asked me the time, bout 12.45 Float,

to which he replied.......

wait for it.....

"Hey do you want to try my new kite because im going to watch some NETBALL for about an hour" (I think he was playing in a woman's comp)

Now how good is the guy, kites when ever he wants, leaves when ever he is told, comes back to the beach all sweaty from netball and grabs his kite back of me, jumps back on his board and kites of into the sun set with a blissful smile on his face (oh sorry we are on the east coast) kites back out into the dark sky's of the southerly storm front.

And all this time most of you guys take him seriously

Hey it works the other way too... i kite and surf my time away, and would be happy to meet a guy who is as keen as me, instead of hassling me for not spending enough time with them.......no kids (have them in my life, friends and ex's and dig them..keahi being one of them for about 6 years, he's a gem)...own my house/car .....I got my priorities right from an early age and didn't want to conform to the usual journey people take..free as a bird...it's a great feeling.

I don't think the screen counts old son, it's all about feeling that "connection" . That was the word used on a doco I watched on .....might've been SBS. 1950's ....., sigh , my days are numbered . Still got heaps of years to kite but

No one forced these guys to commit, have kids and mortgage so if they don't get the time to do what they want to do then the only person they can blame is themselves.

it seems that for alot of them this is how things pan out . 1 Have cool interests and spend much of spare time doing them .2 Gets girlfriend ,spends considerably less time on self interests that involve time in fresh air having fun, spends more time at gym to compensate, tries in vain to get girlfriend interested in former interests 3 .gets married or commits to girlfriend (ie i am happy to spend more than the next 2 mths with you)with even more progression away from former interests such as kiting .4 partner has baby ,post 1970's guy is riddled with guilt and is only occasionally seen in previous environment ,pursues career to compensate .

Or is it now that I am old with teenage and am getting my life back I think that younger guys are just a bunch of woossy snags .

...you left off a point;

5. Post 1970 bloke gets on forum in yet another last ditch attempt for something or other and posts some stuff about blokes born before or after the year 2000 or whenever.

true, true, true. But as you might find young man, sometimes these things happen before you even realise they have! or the consequences. That being said I wouldn't swap life with my children for any single or dink lifestyle. It changes you for the better - and frustrating and annoying as it may become at times.

Married, single or in between we all need life balance or else we end up grumpy old men/ women...everybody should be able to enjoy their passions within a healthy compromise for all parties ,so when you are doing it you don't feel guilty about it ...and if your kids grow up in this sort of environment it makes for a happier society in all ways.

Nothing deep about that, pretty basic stuff I would think...If you have to sneak a session in here and there or ask for time out then something's not right ...

Some feel guilty or are made to feel guilty about having a bit of time to themselves.
I feel bad if I don't take my doggy for a swim before I kite/surf so I can see how hard it must be if you have to also fit in kids, wife/ husband, for some it must be easier to put their other passions on hold.
