I understand your frustration in trying to find a suitable yacht to purchase . But patience is the key word , "easy to buy and hard to sell "...... That statement can not be disputed .
Osmosis is a bit of a drama but , it's all the other stuff that adds up to the big dollars . Engine ,gearbox , anchor winch , rigging , through hull fittings and ball valves ( does she have gate valves or ball valves? ) ,propellor . Dodger , chart plotter , fridge ,
All the above are the big ticket items , but there is more ... rudder , electrics ,Windows , etc ,ect ,ect,
Maybe all of the above is ok for the foreseeable future , in which case , it's bargainville ??
I feel you pain , but there are ****e loads of magic yachts for sale out there . Idealy , find one where all of the above has been replaced in the last five years , and the owner wants to cut his loses. ....... They do come up occasionally .
I have no idea what this boat is like , I haven't even looked at the advert , so really all of my post is just dribble .
But l guess the fact is cavelier 32 is a good boat , and if you want to own one , go for it . Life's to short to stuff around . Hahaahahah I just did a 360

Hey Cisco have a look on hobbyking.com they have a lot of useful stuff like shrink tube, led strips etc. while indented for RC use a lot of it is 12v and good quality. probably won't help with your anchor light however.

Im not sure where you can get an auto switching anchor light from but you could use voltage from your solar panel ( if you have one ) to control power to an anchor light. May be cheaper than replacing a masthead light. Even some solar charge controllers can facilitate a switching requirement.

On my last yacht I had one of those garden path solar lights mounted on the pushpit. Switched on automatically but light lasted only till about 0200. Cost about $5 new. The best idea is to have one of the cruising yacht types hanging under your boom so it lights up your boat a bit at a normal persons eye level. Mast head lights will just get lost in the background. There are kits and plans out there for this.

At Christmas I bought from Aldi two of those camping light kits. It has a 7watt solar panel which charges a power pack which I believe has a gel cell battery in it with a bit of circuitry in it which allows 2 LED light clusters to be powered from it as well as a USB outlet for phones, tablets etc.
I bought it to have light in our pergola and to save running 240 wires and lights to it. The solar panel has an extra cable with battery clips for direct charging of 12 volt batteries which I have on the boat now keeping a float charge in the batteries.
The power pack can be charged with a 240 volt transformer charger so I don't need the solar panel at home. I bought two of these kits so what I have in mind is to take the second kit to the yacht, hang one of the lights from the boom and leave it on full time. It will light up the cockpit well enough to sit down for a meal there.
This should do well enough while the yacht is anchored in the basin or on it's mooring. As you say a light on top of the mast can be lost amongst the stars or background lights. What I want to do is erect a 25 mm stainless pole 2 or 3 metres long of my stern rail to put my currently transom mounted VHF ariel at the top of as well as an anchor light and a steaming light and maybe the stern light as well a bit further down.
Just about every boat I see around here has an automatic anchor light. I have asked around but I have not yet found where I can buy them. Certainly I could make up a system but I am hoping to find an off the shelf item.
