A design such as the Farr 1020 isn't compromised as are IOR boats with their big bulges amidships and crazy pinched sterns to fit in with the handicap rules of the day. IOR boats don't perform downwind.
Oh dear, now you've gone and done it. I have said the same thing and was howled down by those who were lucky enough to have had an IOR boat that was one of the few that didn't wallow downwind.

Cisco, I am on the north side of Sydney and could be available for a couple of week sail up to Queensland. I will be away from end Feb for awhile. Let me know if you need a hand. If you come down to Sydney give me a call.
Thanks for that great offer MorningBird.
I am nowhere near buying another yacht at this point in time. Finding and buying a great yacht at a great price is the easy part. As we all know, the market is awash with them.
The hard part is where do you keep it once you have it????
The Burnett River is still knackered from the floods a year ago. Midtown Marina is totally gone and will not be rebuilt. All the moorings are gone and not likely to be replaced.
Anchoring in the river is a gamble on whether you will ever get your anchor out of the underwater hazards and debris again.
The Burnett Heads Marina is closing down for the redevelopment of the basin for 270 marina berths.
Bundaberg Port Marina now has a monopoly on the river which the evil owner and his partners in crime are taking full advantage of. A wet berth for a 10m yacht costs $630 for 28 days and live aboard is another $92/person. At $722 per month one could pay off a fairly substantial mortgage.
Hardstand rates are twice that at $1260 working and dry storage no working is $428 per 28 days. I believe the story is the same or worse the length of this coast. Marmong Point Marina in Lake Macquarie is about the same.
You don't need to be rich to own a yacht, but you need to be rich to keep it.

At those rates does he get any business or is this now normal costing for most marinas?

Big price drop on the Peterson, she is down to $14.5k
That's a lot of boat for the money, if you have some time on your hands!
