Meanwhile, later still, the Oats boat is zipping along at 21.4 knots while in her wake Comanche loafs along at a paltry 15 knots, gotta hope it stays that way, can't have an upstart brand new boat come and steal the silver ware.

Anybody know why none of the SH boats are visible on tracking apps such as MarineTraffic etc.
Doesn't any of them have a transmitting AIS, or not switched on, or why?
Strange.

It is the handicap position that's important Andy. A robust wind with south in it will suit her and the other S&S designs well but it will be bouncy and wet onboard the small ones.

Well here's one for us Morning Bird Quickpoint Azzuro is humming along at 10kts SOG and currently:

1st IRC 30 year
1st IRC 20 year
1st IRC
1st ORCi
Go you little beauty

For what? Everything I did is in the public domain and I haven't sold anything at a profit, anyone else is as free to do what I did with no fee payable.

Anyone hear of a boat retire into port hacking a few hours after the start? I was there in the afternoon and a boat with what looked like a Rolex sticker pulled in there.

I did look at it and while your idea is workable I'm not convinced it's a long term solution. Gerni's and Kärcher's are now so cheap that they have become a throw away item. As a throw away item I question their longevity and am I willing to take the chance of failure.

That could have been Last Tango, a Salona 44 that dropped off an injured crew member. She later retired with sail damage.

Azzuro still 3rd in IRC. Great sailing, an IRC win would be fantastic.

the 80 year old Maluka of Kermandie is doing very well also !!

congrats to the crew of wild oats on line honors

the race is looking good for next year , as the new yank tank goes really well, and will give WO some competition in the next few years.

Azzuro currently 2nd, behind Maluka. Either at the top would be great for lovers of classic yachts and a one two fantastic.

I checked the S2H website after a text from Claverton. It said Azzuro had won in IRC. Having got my hopes up, I checked 10 minutes later and Azzuro was way down the list.

As all the relevant boats had finished some time earlier, why would the website be updating so much?

Quikpoint Azzuro is the old Shenandoah II from Melbourne raced extensively there by Ron White, for anyone that might remember that. Built very light and no interior to speak of back then, merely just sufficient to satisfy the IMS rule under which she did well. The current owner bought it in a derelict state from QLD (not THE derelict state of QLD ) and has rebuilt it extensively. Gutted to see them drop down the handicap placings on the last night.

thanks for the tip, Ramona.

seems the Tracker is buggy (showing Wild Oats waaaay out in front) but the Standings screen is accurate.

I don't know if anyone has already said it but I think the tracker shows the race record boat (wild oats) on the screen with the current fleet so you can see how far behind or infront the current fleet is compared to the record holder (wild oats will be on the tracker twice)

Regards Don

Don, if you click on the pic I have near the top of this page you will see that the .kml file in Google Earth shows the same thing but in my opinion, better.
