Even if just 1 person on board thinks their life is in jeopardy, I can only imagine that the whole situation would become very difficult, very quickly.
Depends which school you went to to how youd deal with it...
Ive always relied on myself to get out of pickles but of course dont know this situation. The yachts floating with a mast though and the cops travelled for over 12 hours to rescue them.
Maybe set the epirb off once youre in the liferaft?
Too many safety nets in this country...really spoiled we are.
Way too many tiers of government, with each of them needing to be seen to be "protecting" the community, they constantly need to be introducing some law or regulation, otherwise funding drys up & they become obsolete.
We are made to carry epirbs, so presumably they want us to use them.
It would be educating to learn the details of why they abandoned ship in this case, on the surface it looks like they still had the option of sailing West.
It would be educating to know but my guess is the egos of those onboard may not be willing to share nor admit fault. Most humans are this way when they make mistakes unfortunately.
Ive seen car drivers knock cyclists over and blame the cyclist rather than help for eg.
Soon we are gonna be fined (supposedly) for having a flat battery in smart phone when they introduce these digital licenses and fining someone for leaving their car unlocked. Insanity.
