In WA not only is it illegal to distill any amount, it is illegal to possess a still (even if never used and no intent to use it. $5000 off the top of my head

Better still, get a relative (preferably not the poor relative) or a friend if you have one, to buy you some spirits duty free when they go somewhere outside of Australia.
This year my mum bought me a 1 litre of vodka which cost her $10 US off a cruise ship and my dad just returned from Canadia and brought back a 1.14 litre bottle of Canadian whisky for $12 Canadian.
