Hellooo everybodeeeee!
It is I, Grover. My friends and I are here to protest at remarks made about our dear little fuzzy friend Elmo in previous caption contests.
Please desist from slandering our furry friend or we will have to get nasty.

When I read this I automatically reverted to internal "Grover voice'...

......... Today, police felt helpless to intervene as the recent spate of killings in the underworld puppet gangland war threatened to spiral out of control following the recent drive by shooting of Crime Boss, Big Bird.

Star Trek Conventions are generally considered very safe places occasionally a participant be rendered unconscious by a Vulcan Nerve Pinch.

Sesame Street Conventions are much more dangerous places as the fans unleash their "inner Muppet".
Hint: Do Not Dress As Mr Noodle (“convention Elmos” are far weirder and more imaginative than their role model)

With the success of the Underbelly series, channel 9 buy the rights to another program, and ask for just one small change...

Concerned parents argue that it really isn't suitable for a morning time slot, but channel 9 insist it is now a real-life educational program.

OK, time to call it. While winning a round is enjoyable, it’s nothing compared to the laughs you get back by provoking the obviously too-fertile minds of you people.

Some fine entries indeed.

Special mentions:
Easty is quite right. If you cover over the eyebrows, each character looks their normal manicly-happy self.

TonyC- I haven’t had such a good laugh for ages.

FormulaNova- points for first observing the Dutch connection as well as some sterling entries.

RFish- For outing the WA boys. Good to see Decrep has gotten furry again.

DavMen- trying to get the fluff stains out of the carpet is a bugger.

But this round goes to:
Windxtasy. I (and NotWal too) sense that she has strangely strong and perhaps unhealthy affinity with the subject matter, bordering on the obsessive. You know there’s something going on when she’s making up captions in her sleep.

With each further submission building on the last, culminating in “The Sopranos”, but to be capped by the witty “Laughter to Manslaughter” [edit of greater familiarity with the subject matter.]

Over to you Windxtasy.

(Let's not turn this into a mutual admiration society!)

This is true, but I'd like to know how you worked it out. (it's time for Peter Cundall to be replaced)
I've looked at Elmo's mates and I'm having trouble seeing myself amongst them.

Not sure I should say all suggestions welcome?
