One or two. Would like to do three. Sometimes I like it, Muay Thai, more than windsurfing. I've found myself practicing its moves in my head more than windsurfing. It's certainly more of a physical workout however it lacks the aesthetic, get-in-touch-with-nature part, but then driving for a sail through Sydney will totally wreck that anyway.
I use to go on daily basis. The very essential thing in workout is regularity and consistency.I use to spend 1.30 hours on daily basis in Gym.
I divide my game on 5 kinds.Wings,Biceps,Triceps, chest and shoulders.Diet must be good but keep in mind that there is no leave in this if you really want a ideal physic.
Wow what a diverse lot we are !
My experience ,8 years ago at the age of 45 I was an average sailor battling cronic lower back issues with extended times of the water waiting for the anti inflams to work the only other exercise I did was the occasional surf.It was becoming apparent my sailing (and any other fun physical persiuts) were coming to an end.
Had never considered gratuitous exercise until a mate of mine an ex elite athlete set up a home gym got a trianer and 5 mates on board ,for the first couple of years we did 3days a week 2 hrs a time, was a shock at first but once you get over the hump and start to feel the benifits not just physical ,it gets addictive. Turned my life around, improved my sailing out of sight and bought me another 8years to date with more to come.
Currently doing 2 x 1.5hr sessions a week with some standup paddling thrown in.
If any of you are serious about sailing fitness check out Sean O'Brien's "Get windsurf fit program",I've only just bought it but alot of the program is stuff I have been doing over the years to great benifit ,it has a gym program and another tailored for home with minamal equipment requirements.
My case is a little extreme, and it depends what your trying to get out of sailng ,but age will mow you down sooner rather than later if your complacent.
I exercise just about every day, gym work one day and aerobic the next. When the season is on I also play tennis. I believe you get fit to play sport not play sport to get fit. I only took up the weights recently because as you age it is important to keep the muscle mass up and I've noticed that a lot of the niggling aches and pains have either disappeared or are much better. I think most sailors would struggle to get enough time on the water to use it as their only fitness programme, unfortunately.
Eating well is important while hitting the gym.. It's a pitty we can't eat like Robby..
Taco Bell later opened in 1997 in Australia with a store in the cinema district on George St in Sydney and a year later in 1998 within a few KFC stores in the state of New South Wales, but by 2005, the Taco Bell brand was pulled out of the country.
I do the gym, but only if I can't go......
1. windsurfing
2. Surfing
3. sUPing
4. Cycling
The main reason is injury prevention. I do a general workout, then loads of prone rows.
