Hi, guys, me and my brother were just talking about kiters this afternoon while waiting for the wind, and we were talking about the reason why kiters help us windsurfers. We thought may be there not that bad after all. Please let me explain before you yell.. WHAT IS FLIPPER ON ABOUT??? When there's alot of kiters around well at least you know there is no sharks around. The reason why, when you rock up at your fav beach to catch the seabreeze, and your the first one to rig up and go for a sail, if there were sharks around, they would be the first ones eating by a shark in the light wind, that they have been kiting in. So next time you see that local guy joe who has been kiting in the morning at your local spot, say ''G' day mate'' cause he has done you a favour. He has checked out that spot before you even launch..

So when your driving along the coast to your fav spot next think about what Flipper said when you see all those bright colour kites flying all around in the clouds. It means jaws is not hungry..

If there is anything that kiting can teach us, it's that a kiter's life is a precious, precious commodity. Just because they have chiseled abs and stunning features, it doesn't mean that they too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

No no no, what Flipper means is that the kiters, especially in lighter winds where they tend to sink and have to drag themselves around half the time, are basically easy prey - like a one-man trawler where you are the bait - and if there were any hungry sharkies around, they would go for the slow dragging meatballs before they went after a windsurfer.

So- if you're worried about sharks, sail around kiters and you'll never be lunch!

And bring a camera!

Sharks are smart creatures.
Of cause they wont eat a poledancer,
Dancer meat would be old, tough, heaps of fat and full of grisel.

Would you eat an 80 year old cow????

I new you would turn up lotofwind and comment, you love thease type of posts. You know what lotofwind ya right again my son, they are smart creatures, you can teach sharks even tricks. I heard about one windsurfer in maui, that taught a pet shark to chase a kite surfer that he did not like, so the shark spooked him a little. dont know if it's true or not, but it was in the local paper on google..

You know sharks have better eye site than a human, google sharks

A shark knows the difference between a kiter and a windsurfer, but i think i read some where on google that sharks like to nibble on kiters most the time..

Maybe you could ask the shark at your local beach lotofwind why kiters are so tastey??

And yet you keep starting these posts flipper, just hanging out for me to comment.

Sharks are the vacuums of the ocean.
Tend to feed on sick wounded sealife, easy targets as they are slower. So you would think a dancer would be in serious danger being the slower craft.
And flipper old boy, sharks are not scared of dolphins.

Another interesting fact, there have been way more incidents with sharks on dancers than kiters, and there are more kiters than dancers, and we are on the water more often due to having a larger wind range.
hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....interesting facts

I have seen that pic before and read the story, but the qustion I would really love to know?? was the shark attracted to the board because it was red? or was the shark just plain hungry? I read one of the local shark fisherman thinks it acted as a big lure.

Hey Laurie! Can we please keep lotofwind??? I think he has strayed and he came here to our forum, and we fed him, and now he keeps coming back for more. I don't think that the other kiters like him, and I think his own mother chased him out of her den because he smelt funny. Flip and I promise to feed him each day if you let us keep him, and we'll toilet train him and all, promise!!! We will try to teach him to windsurf too but first we have to get him to wake upright and that will be a bit of a task, but I have some ideas for that involving some meat on a string.

Whatt do you say Laurie???

I don't know... by the look of the Kiter's limp wrist I'd say he's into something else...

I think all that pic proves is that kiters do dumb arse dangerous tricks only metres from the beach when they have an audience.
What we can't see is the chick rolling her eyes and sighing....
