Happy New Year ![]()
Hi,
I booked nice and early for the LOC, hoping to get a half decent position ont he start line, are you confirming start psoitions prior to the race? Will early bookings get better psoitions?
Hi
We can't confirm start positions as we have almost 90 entires confirmed and paid. The process is, book in we allocated start numbers according to receipt of payment which is fair to everyone. Eg: If you booked in last Janaury and havent paid then we cant allocate a sailing number until we have received your funds.
I will have a chat to our website guru and see if I can get the first 100 up on the LOC site for you - no promises ![]()
Thanks thats exactly why i ask,
I paid as soon as entries opened or close to...so hoping to get confirmation of a decent spot on the line up, have requested confirmation by email, no reply so will try again, cheers.
Hi Jonesy
Can you email [email protected] and we will respond from there as one of the girls is still on leave and maybe we are not seeing your query. Will need the name you registered with please.
Cheers

If there is some wind forecasted for Friday and none forecasted for Sat or Sunday would the smart thing to do be run the race on the Friday?
The party etc may have to still be Saturday etc...locals may be able to do it the following weekend etc, but those of us that have come from the other side of Aust or even OS may not be able to....Spewing! Here's hoping the forecast changes in the next few days, I remember last year was looking dodgy but the wind gods smiled on the Sat.
Traditionally the race was last Saturday, it was blowing around 15 to 22 and we did a practice run. The conditions were perfect and we did it safely waiting on each other when we gybed and completed it in 38 min.
Good luck requesting a date change if you have an idea about what goes into arranging such, media etc.
There is zero chance of a date change for logistics reasons, but there is some hope of an improvement in the forecast. I note there is now a sea breeze forecast in Geraldton on Saturday...
Fingers crossed...and toes!
Just wondered if anyone knew if there was the option to run it on Sunday. I know in the past that has been the reserve day but the LOC website makes it sound like its Saturday or nothing.
2nd that request/question!
Make sense if there is wind on the Sunday...some of us will also need to change flight bookings/car hire etc. Would think that by Thu/Fri the decission could be called.
The decision would only be made on Saturday (or in the past that was how it was done). So you would wait all day on Saturday in case the wind comes in, go to the pub Sat night and then sail the race on Sunday. Im certain noone would call it just on the forecast.
I did also find out that those of us who have used type 3 PFDs in previous races will not be able to use them this time. You do need type 1 or 2 (type 2 is the same as type 3 but in high visibility colors).
Guys,
We are going to bring the Starboard SUP Demo van and all the 2012 Demo SUPs to Ledge Point on Saturday, so come and and take the boards for a paddle and see what all the hype is about.
Registration opens at 9.00 so get to registration early to get a good starting position then spend some time trying our SUP's as a great warm up for an early afternoon start.
It always get windy when we run SUP demos, so get in for a paddle before the breeze kicks in.
See you Saturday,
Ian
Yep, everyone do plenty of SUP'ing before the race.
It will give the Starboard crew (Bjorn etc.) an advantage as you will then have used up too much energy to pump the whole course. They, on the other hand, will be fresh.
I would'nt trust the forecast at the moment every day it's has swung around at about 2:30 and came in at the right angle at 18knots. I've probably jinxed it now .....
Ex TC Heidi is gonna screw up the weather map :(
Who know's what it's going to do.
The bloke from Tassie obviously knows best. I'd go with his forecast.
Lancelin Ocean Classic.
Perth test match.
Motorvation.
Now a bad forecast.
Seems to me that things should have been thought through a little better.
Obviously you can't accurately predict the weather that far out, but to hold a 3 day event on the same weekend/days as 2 other well publicised 3+ day events seems like bad planning and management to me ![]()

Juuust enough wind and lots of pumping, some pretty tired looking sailors and half the fleet still out with dropping wind.
