Great work there Walt
Now you have more room between your 2 halves to let the sand in. I wouldn't recommend sanding your bottom section down. A snug fit is best and TAPE TAPE TAPE
snug fit will help to stop mast breaking at ferrule, but loose fit never gets jammed. ive got 7 year old ezzy skinnies, loose as and they certainly dont get jammed. as to taping, i reckon after a few stuck masts you start taping, just at the point when the mast wear down and won't get stuck anymore. but hey, if the placebo works, run with it
Hey Moondo,
Well sanding the bottom section to relieve the friction in the joint will help not letting the mast stick together to a small extent ofcourse.
Just as Nebbian says when you apply mast downhaul this allows water to enter and when the mast is released if there is too much friction then the problem occurs, that why for me I relieve this pressure between the joins giving abit of tolerance.
Sanding the bottom section is not for everyone I understand that but it works for me.
However if you always remember to take tape with you then sure that will help also.
Kind Regards
Walt
