Me too. What are you getting copied? 103lt or 93lt? green or blue?
Keep us informed- weight, cost, a picture and of course how it goes.
Are you tempted to get them to add another cm or 2 of width, or keep it exactly the same?
I would definitely get the nose shortened and rounded off!
Good luck.
I gotta weigh in here for my love of the flow.
I have had my blue 105litre for about eight years from new and sailed it in many conditions. Its nose has a few cracks I've patched up, but it's a solid board. It turns like no other board I have sailed. Such dependable bite and it'll bank as tight as you are game to weight the rail.
I've noticed that compared with my 08 hawk, the thin width in the flow promotes a slightly different stance. Not better or worse, but different; more side-on as the tail tapers into nothing. This can cause a bit of spin out when I get sloppy or I'm in really heavy chop.
But I love the board; I have taken on some serious slalom boards with the flow, and not always won, but frequently surprised.
I have to admit I like the long pointy nose on mine. I like seeing it riding high when I'm sailing down wave faces. Make me feel secure.
On another note where is everyone positioning there mast bases in the track on these boards? I always find my 103 goes best with the base set in the forward half of the track.
Has anyone else found this?
I agree too.
I've tried having it near the back 'cos I thought I should. Found out that it's ok if you are well powered up on flattish water and wanting to go as fast as possible (reduce wetted surface etc).
But it isn 't as good for all round sailing. I think that having it in the front half (about 139-144 from tail) allows you to rake the rig back better and still be in good posi for the straps. You also get better rail engagement when entering the jibe. (my 2 cents)
next Q: 1 or 2 straps on the back?
