I so reckon Kauli should have won he rides the wave so much better its as though the sail doesn't exist, more like surfing. Where as Josh all he seems to do is airs every opportunity he gets.
its just so fluid he does the right thing for like every section of the wave which what wavesailing is all about is it? Kauli's a Champ

I can only assume Kauli's on a twin, right? I don't like the lines they draw. They can sit up higher, but they (or Kauli) don't seem "powerful". Feels like I'm watching Mark Richards. It's more slashing than carving. Bring on the thrusters I say.
Kauli is very fluid, no doubt and really works the entire wave. His transitions are fast. But... I don't know. Kauli doesn't come across as, say, a big wave surfer.
Josh is more ragged, but it's a style. Since when has getting air been a negative? From the few snippets on that vid Josh has better wave selection, again.
I thought the action earlier in the vid was better than the finals.
i'm not saying air is a bad thing i just think Josh does far to much for a wave. The Air i reckon is only needed when you need jump close out sections thats when it looks sick
in that vid kauli is on a quad. josh does have better wave selection but that it is definitely not kauli's best riding in that video.

i think he picked bigger waves and sat in the pocket way more than kauli. hence more aerials.
i reckon the part 2 vid has the best wave riding overall. either the winds holding up the faces more or there is less speed in the swells but those sliding top turns with vertical re-entry moves are to me the closest to surfing i've seen.

Hey Leech, Overall the K's twin looks looser than the quad more vert s turns but that could be because it's a different wave but in CV the quad seems to do a tiny bit looser bottom turn than the twin.
haven't ripped it yet, and i'm not sure it's even possible? i had it downhauled so far it was flapping in the gusts which might have made it look like it was ripped. those two zeta and voodo sails i got feel like absolute crap, but that generation seem to last for ever

Josh ripped but its like he's towing a bucket compared to Kauli, look at the speed difference 
Josh had a perfect wave to show his ALL.... and did couple of turns and a couple of airs which gave him the points to take out the event. Kauli was definitely not showing his best its like he got in a bad rhythm in the last moments. But even the wave he did get he was just smashing it top bottom top bottom, turn after turn flowing with the wave and really surfing it.
Only agree with......... (world champ and one of all time greatest wave sailors)
I compared them and its only my opinion its a forum remember dont get NASTY!!!!!!

Don't worry Gary You pretty much summed the final up exactly how it looked. I reckon if a plain surfer not from a windsurfing background looked at both sailors they would say kauli surfs the wave a lot better, and a lot cooler.
gotta agree with garyk...these were my thoughts too,towing da bucket and 2 airs,
didnt think the 4 fin board worked as well as the twinnie he was riding on the 2nd video.Still a works in progress the quad according to kauli,and both these blokes are goofy footers,yet rip going the other way!!
