Just let Stewie sort it out.
I'll drive across the country, collect all the guy's who are angry on this forum, in my 1969 Purple Valiant, get them all together, give them a good talking to, and a nice strong short black, and if they still fail to understand what I am talking about, then I will do what it takes to make them understand that forums are not a nice place to take it out on other people.
If I have to, I will sticky tape Frant, User and others together, in some kind of sick Stewie experiment, for however long it takes, to see if over time they learn to like each other.
I'll give it a go.
when i first joined this forum i thought it was great i was asking questions and getting informed answers now its just a lot of jriberling **** ![]()
Exactly. That is why Laurie needs to create a "Stewie's Corner", for the latest, best, fastest, lightest, strongest fish'n'chip banter on the internet, and some windsurfing talk too.
Yes, a bit over the top. Perhaps some didn't notice but luser was actually a send-up of user. luser only ever had 2 posts and used the same avatar as user. luser seemed actually able to shut user up very quicky when user became really, really annoying.
luser wouldn't have started a thread specifically to pick on user as a) user is a troll and it only feeds user's ego even more b) has nothing to do with windsurfing c) it's kinda mean.
Perhaps windsurfers trapped in office cubicles could hang out on the General forum more?
yes well, i personaly like to read the forums and add a bit to them, i don't mind a bit of ribbing from my mates (windsurfers) and every now and then from some kite guys (when its a general fun disscussion) but it has come to the point that every topic has 1 or 2 guys (obviously kiters) telling us our sport is crap, why we bother, all the rest, this is fine every now and then, it's the ozzie way, but when we are talking about sailing or gear etc. things windsurfers like to talk about, i gets old real quick, when people with no interest in the sport are bombarding us with how crap, old, washed up etc or sport is.
Basicaly you should not say anything to anyone you wouldn't standing in front of them at the beach and it's obvious that once one of us is offended the rest will stand behind them, and it all hits the fan.
Imagine saying to a wavesailor or a group of them that there sport is washed up, old, boring etc when there unrigging at the beach, i think you would get injured real fast. after all this sport is what we do and a large persentage are passionate about it as alot of kiter would be, which is why i don't go into there forum and put down there sport.
The fact is people do behave differently online, whether on forums, chatting or playing online games. So you really should not compare real life to online behaviour.
User can obviously take sh!t so I have no problem with him giving it out. However he needs to get more creative. I have no problem with him posting here, but if he keeps posting the same stuff all the time then its boring and tiresome.
Maybe I'm just old and saline but I really can't see what all the fuss is about.
If it's all about User, (geez! that will give his ego the 30 foot boost he's always on about,
) then consider this.
He has only posted on 5 (five) threads on the windsurf forum in recent times.
One was "that user incident" which he has every right to respond to.
One was "New avatar for Luser" which he has every right to respond to.
One was "Kiter ragdolled on Bondi" which he had a right to respond to as the whole thread was a sledgefest on kiters, and he simply joined the fray.
One was "how long will it take to get to this level" which was clearly a troll and easilly ignored. All his responses were typical "user" comments, off the same old CD and not at all offensive execpt maybe to the hypersensitive.
One ( and lastly) was to the "Malacoota" thread, and this was just a remark, not a troll.
From reading some of the posts on this thread it appeared as though he was into every second thread, but that is clearly NOT the case.
If you find something someone posts is offensive to you, then just give it the 'thumbs down' and move on. Don't bother to respond to it unless you feel like joining in.
It's the same thing in life. If something someone says offends you, just ignore it and move on. It's not your job (or mine) to try and sort out every person on the planet.
For the most part people don't set out to be offensive. They just open their mouths and pass wind. (or keystrokes) It's just that some people are naturally just a little more abrasive than others.
Maybe some advice to User and others would be, re-read your posts before pressing the send key and self censor anything you have said which you would find offensive if it was directed to you.
Peace. ![]()
I just clicked on "Hide avatars" and am still seeing them...
Firefox 2.0.0.14 on Windows Vista (eeeargh!)
Thanks Laurie.
I tried it but it doesn't work for me either. I'm using Firefox/2.0.0.14 and Windows XP.
I would hide avatars when viewing at work if it was an option.
But I dont think it ever worked, www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28841&SearchTerms=hide,avatars
Just for information, it's not working on mine either. Windows XP & Internet Exploder 7.
(not that I care anyway cos I don't need it.)
Laurie, you've got the red wire where the blue wire should be. ![]()
the internet seems a great place for people to hide behind an avatar and start a slanging match. Maybe if we all put our real images as our avatars we would think twice about some of the things we say.
