At 110kgs, I'm obese according to BMI! When I was playing footy I was about 115kgs, but fitter than I am now?!? I've queried it with my doc & he told me that although I could lose some weight, if I aimed at 82kgs (from memory is what I should be), I'd be a "not very-well man". Either way, 20kgs less is where I want to be by the end of the year & maintain that for a while.

Coincidentally, I dropped over 3kgs in the last 4 days...gastro! If I had the energy I'd try to keep it off, but I'm pretty sure it was mostly fluid, and the lethargy has set in. I've never had gastro before...never want it again either!

BMI readings are a lot of sh@t. They are so inaccurate its ridiculous. They dont take in body shape at all. Like you say the majority of first grade footballers weigh in as obese or morbidly obese.

The only true way to judge healthy body fats level is a body percentage fat pinch. Obviously thats not realistic for watching your health.

Main thing is dont be suprised if you dont lose much weight if excercising a lot due to muscle increase. I know that when im at my fittest i weigh more that when a lazy bastard.

Good luck fellas.

Weighed myself and thought I had lost 30kg but then realized I needed to put both feet on the scales. Dam and bugger. About to head to stone grill to have meat and red wine, not sure if that will help though

Bit late here but keen to take part as I need to lose a bit of weight:

WEIGH IN No.1

Weight:86.4 kgs
Target loss:10.4 kgs
Weight loss so far:0.0 kgs
Home:Sydney

Have done that thing I've been avoiding for years and joined a gym, its the whole food thing that kills me, I can't be arsed to take to much time over food during the day so end up eating crap. I might be able to lose the weight without changing my diet if I exercise a lot but not sure thats going to help the situation.

Okay this thread should motivate me although I don't expect to lose much in the coming fortnight as we're going on holidays and it will be my patriachal duty to drink my brother-in-laws under the table and retain my Alpha male status within the extended family pecking order

Didn't get to exercise much this week due to being ill but still managed a few hundred grams. I'll get back into it next week and try and crack 95...maybe.

I sailed today and was quite surprised with the difference, Not only my stamina(2 sessions, 2hrs & 3hrs..non stop) but what a huge difference it made to my kit. I sailed all day on a 5.8 and 95L board and i could easily notice the increased float in my board. I would have normally used a 6.2 on a day like this but got away with the 5.8, If i sailed into a lull I didn't even need to step out of my straps(unless the wind died right off), I could just keep slogging in the straps untill the wind kicked in again. Jumping was different as well, not as much effort needed to pop the board...I can't wait for some good ramps to see if it's true or it's all in my mind.

....Anyways, I'm happy with it all for the moment.

Great work for the rest of the guy's on the challenge.

Not really weighing in much, but am doing a push-up challenge courtesy of an app my wife loaded on my iPhone.
It gives you 4 warm-up sets, then you do a set to failure.
LAst one was 12, 18, 10, 10 for the warm-up, then I made it to 42 on the failure set.
I might have lost a smidgen of weight, have to weigh myself on Monday when I get home again. Lots of cycling the last 2 weeks.

Weigh in today 74.8kg.
Started at about 80kg 6 weeks ago, so that's a little over 5kg down.
End goal now is about 72, though 70 would be nice.
I used to be an anti-BMI guy too, but now I just want to be my 30 year old weight, when I was learning to windsurf, and very fit.

Ok, I should get this back up and running. I've been out of action for a while due to stuffing up my back but I've managed to stay at 95kg just through my eating right and windsurfing. Funnily enough windsurfing was the only form of exercise that did not aggravate my back injury. As of next week I'll start my weigh-in again, I'm left with 9kgs to go but I think 90kg (5kg more) will it for me. I'm just not that concerned any more as I've been to the quacks and I've been given a good bill of health.....Too fat as far as BMI is concerned but everything else is good. As far as the contest, it's no longer. It's just about me know and keeping in reasonable fitness for the summer and beyond.

But I do need to but a new harness now as mine in too big and I can't do up the Velcro anymore....so I might have a look at the new Ion ones anyway as they are suppose to be good.

Just read an artical about people that are around 100kgs and above that are classified as extremely obese.
It is more of over comming their psychological problems of why they have become so fat, why they seem to need to over eat, why they didnt do something about the obvious signs of their obesety when they got to 95kgs. etc.

The results found that most could lose weight and did, but,
couldnt keep from being 100kgs+ and obese because they didnt deal with their mental issues of why they are trashing their bodys with junk food and no exercise.

They compared it to being like an alcoholic,,,,,,who could stop drinking for a period of time useing will power,,
but couldnt keep it up for the rest of their lives, if they hadnt also dealt with the issues of why they had become that way in the first place,

Food for thought... pardon the pun

Yep for real obese people..unless they get to the issues behind why they eat they'll prob put it back on.I haven't watched much of 'the biggest loser ' on TV but it seems their issues usually come up and they get help to deal with them as they go.
