I am happy for you Maverick, but I think you will find we are talking about fins.

The sailmaker for Point 7 used to work at Neil Pryde thats why they look the same as RS Racing 07 - 08.

Yeap, I'm on Point-7 this year! The above is true to some extent. Andrea Cucchi spent quite a few years working with development of the NP sails and I'm sure in the beginning he would've taken some ideas but when you lie the sails down on top of a NP from the previous seasons they are actually quite different beasts.

There's actually even more luff curve in them than the NP's giving them a lot more stability and they are a bit flatter in the bottom section which I think is much better for speed.

This event in Poland is basically the first time I've used them so still getting tuned up but the speed is good.

That being said being one of 3 black sails in a +100 fleet is not so cool for OCS'. Got my first yesterday in the 2nd gold fleet race ... D@MN! haha..

Chris - AP is down, get rigging buddy.

What do you mean "Thousands of people on the beach, and aerobics on the main stage, a world apart from events in OZ" ----
There are always thousands on the beach at Ramsgate, and I have been know to practice my aerobics to the merriment of many on the foreshore.

You make it sound like there could be a better location then Botany bay. You will be sorry you dissed your local, you will be destined to encounter many jetskis on the water this season to pay for your dissadence.

Bring me back a stick of rock,

JB

AP came down, mad rigging frenzy. My tactical slow rigging meant that the AP went back up before I got any gear wet.

Bugger it getting wet, I'll bet you hadn't even untied the cord on your sail bags

I agree, haircut you should get some sado's- that might attract a bit of interest at wello, the whole range looks pretty good though thumbs up to them for graphics. Sean are Point-7's coming to aus any time soon?

Any future plans to expand the range to slalom fins or just sticking with FW fins for now?

Hey MK, those things are MEGA expensive so I doubt whether anyone would be willing to take the punt on being a distributor. I think their website has prices in Euros.....coupled with freight costs....I hope you own an oil well.

Just curious, i've got sails sorted

There are enough people round easily throwing $1700 odd on a sail so I dont think price is that much of an issue for racers. On the site the AC-1 starts at $900 aud, if there was a local distributor and assuming they are made in China like most other sails, they aren't freighted from europe to here.

Point-7 are already coming to Aus! There is a new distributor set up with Board Crazy as mentioned ...

I haven't seen the landed prices in Australia but in Europe the P7's are 30% cheaper than other sail brands on the race front so I can't see why they would be more expensive in Aus.

The slalom size AC-1's look really, really sick with the current graphics ;)

i used to have a black windsurf board many years ago... you could never leave it out in the sun without cooking it.

Do they have a special coating on those black sails to avoid overheating?

Sails are a bit different to boards, there's no foam in them and pressure so a sail isn't going to 'explode' in the sun.

The P7's use a slightly thicker monofilm which will be more resistant to heat damage as well as creasing etc from rigging; they are also the only 100% UV sail on the market as the orange film on the window is fully 100% UV resistant monofilm.

Sure, black sails are going to get much hotter in the sun than white, but the problem is more to do with the masts breaking than the sails getting damaged. For the record I left all my sails fully downhauled in the sun all day at the AllegroCup last week and never had a problem; while I sat and watched other guys break masts left right and centre.

If the masts are good (like the P7 ones are) then you should have no problems, even in Aus.

Hey Guys,
Just a quick note to let you know that our first shipment of Point-7 sails will be here in house this Thursday. It's a smaller sample shipment of AC-1's. Will have them at Marmong this Saturday.
Stock of AC-0, AC-2 and wave sails will be here during September.
This new project is putting some spark into this old sailor and I look forward to windsurfing racing once again.....
P-7 enquiries are most welcome.
