What sort of life should sails have ..shelf life

Consider this an appeal to you fellow windsurfers on NSW. The comments from sboardcrazy indicates a shortage of funds atm, we've all been there (Well most of us). Surely one of you guys over there have a servicable sail in your garage you will never use again. How about donating it to get a fellow sailor back on the water. Karma guys :)

Here's my old windsurfer storage rack. You can see all the crap I still have up top, including original windsurfer sails to old one piece masts and heaps of broken, sails, masts and booms. Just haven't got around to throwing it all. Not really worth even giving it away, altho I did see a young fella down at Rye who had hap-hazardly put together some very old pieces of windsurfing gear. Like the boom was a good half a metre too big, so had a long rope holding it on and the board even had a retractable fin (not centreboard). Frankly I thought the guys was a legend. He's been watching people sail and had no cash so put together what he could so he could join in the fun.


Here's my old Tyronsea sail, where you can see little bits of the plastic barely holding onto the edges.




If cash is tight I recommend hunting for a cheap used one. Always people with too much money upgrading.
