Just for the record I posted on the OD page whilst it was there.
I wanted to reminisce about the old days with races like Bridge to bridge in Perth. We co-existed with other longboards in divisions or handicaps with WABSA and Nedlands Yacht Club. I also owned a Bic Bebop raceboard, Neil Scheltma slalom and speed fibreglass boards. I loved sailing them all, but somehow I have a soft spot for Wally One-design sailing. Probably because it was my first board and at the time the community was huge.
After 13 years away from the sport I am coming back on freeride gear, but am on the lookout for a secondhand wally too. ManOverBoard, you mentioned you are getting your hands on one? Do you have access to another one? I would prefer not to buy new if I can avoid it.
Windsurfing is great fun and I love the fact it is so easy to make new friends on the water from all walks of life.

Well they could be in Italy racing, can some one tell me how big the OD fleet in Italy is ?
A pretty amazing 108 sailors did the last nationals in Italy, and 220 sailed in at least one event nationally. When I first saw those figures on the 'net I assumed that someone had made an error with a translation, but about 10 days ago I was riding through a village in the Alps when I came across Aldo and Massimo, two great guys from the Italian Wally crew who were on their way over the Alps for a regatta in Switzerland. Aldo
confirmed that there were 108 at the last Italian nationals and said that a set of moulds is heading over to Europe to service the Continental market.
Aldo and Massimo were planning to stop off at Lago Bianco (White Lake) just over from the summit of the Gavia Pass, 2621m above sea level - just the place I was on my way to ride to. So after a mere 17 km of climbing on the bike at an average of 8% gradient, maxing out at 16%, I got to drift around on Aldo's One Design on the lake at an altitude of 2359m. Ahh, the sort of things you can do on a One Design.
I'm seriously considering heading over for the Italian nationals in the next couple of years, and Aldo said that the Italians are considering applying to ISAF to return the class to official International (or possibly International Classic Class) status. With Australia, Italy, and the USA having active fleets we only need one more country sailing the class to conform to ISAF's requirements, and apparently there is some activity at Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

pavdivision2.blogspot is worth looking at if interested in round boards, they have a facebook page too.
my french isn't great, but it seems like someone recently discovered a warehouse full of new Lechners!
And another WINDSURFER OneDesign international event is being planned for mid-June 2014 and will again include an event in Italy.
