Not offended one bit, but it doesn't add up.
If 50% of those who kite are gay, plus 30% who are women, what accounts for the remaining 20%? ![]()
The remaining 20% are all straight.

simple logical error in that, some percentage of the women could be gay !
The original poster is a kiteboarder trying to convince us that as many as 20% of thems types may be straight.
I think the fact that there are no such soul-searching/some thing to prove posts in the kite forums speaks volumes... Fact is that kiteboarders do not in any way feel threatened by the "surging" popularity of windsurfing, but judging by these posts it's evident that windsurfers sure feel threatened by the popularity of kiteboarding.![]()
"more popular" doesn't necessarily translate to "better".
VB is Australia's most "popular" beer (around 25% total market), but many drinkers out there consider VB as "mega swill" (a term often used on brewing websites) - a mass produced light coloured beer with a narrow flavour profile.
IMO, the two sports are beyond comparison. Windsurfing is based on sailing (mast, boom, sail & board/craft) and kitesurfing is not. The only thing they have in common is the water they participate on.
Cheers!
^^^^ I shouldn't say stuff like that. I don't mean it.
For the record I personally don't have a problem with kites. All the people I know who kite are reasonable and don't cause me any grief.
WTF is it with people ?
Beatles vs Stones, Betamax vs VHS, Apple vs Windows, Blueray vs. Hi Def DVD
Who cares what others are doing if you're happy with what you're doing ?
If all you can focus on is what others are doing or what's trendy, then you probably have something missing in your life [}:)]
Anyway there is a bit of rivalry between windsurfing and kitesurfing. In the end as long as no one takes it too seriously then everyone has a bit of fun and keeps the grey matter ticking over.
At our spot there use to be 13 windsurfers 4 years ago.
Now only 1 old die hard.
The others started kiting or just simply disapeared.
No bagging out here, just giving the local stats.
Maybe more goggle searches for windsurfers cause all are worried about what the future holds.
now Im bagging out
lol
i kinda dont get it. kiting just does not appear to be as much fun as being overpowered on the ocean doing 30kn launching over the back of swells a km out to sea. correct me if im wrong. going slower and doing lifts ( they dont look like jumps) just doesnt tickle my tiller.
each to their own.
