Getting in late on this topic and only skimmed it. I am an ophthalmologist.

Petermac-- Let the ophthalmologist handle it or get a 2nd opinion as stated previously here.

EvlPanda-- You likely have recurrent corneal erosion syndrome based on your brief description. You can probably familiarize yourself with the diagnosis online and later see if your ophthalmologists agrees after examing you.

LASIK- I perform it. It is surgery. You have to decide together with your surgeon whether the risk/reward ratio is worth doing it. It is not a no-brainer, and some are better candidates than others. Again, consider a 2nd opinion especially on something permanently done to your body. I have treated family and friends, they are doing well, and it is gratifying. There are risks and complications with all surgeries.

I do not check this forum frequently, and agree with others it is not a great place to get medical advice. Back to windsurfing...

I had PRK (similar to Lasik) 15 years ago. The results are extremely good. Talk to your doctor and get second opinions if you are unsure.
