As i sit here bored s**tless i wonder what else is there to amuse me in my spare time when there is no wind, i ride mountain bikes but that sucks in the rain, which it is doing alot at the moment or it's way too hot, the surf sucks here in summer so surfing is very infrequent, playing playstation is getting a bit boring, there are no windsurfing games to play, guitar yet satisfying for the 30 minutes before bordom sets in and it don't give me the rush i need, i've got heaps of hobbies like airbrushing, painting all the usual ones.
Seabreeze is entertaining for a little while but it's too eazy to click on that litttle graphs icon up there to the left, but as usual no wind, frastrated now and bored..
So the question is " what do you guys do to avoid the bored and frastrated times when your not on the water?"
I'm trying to get into spear fishing. No wind normally means calmer waters, so its pretty compatible. Plus you get to take your frustation out on hapless fish [}:)]
I've bought myself a raceboard this summer - something I can use in any wind conditions.
(I also surf and spearfish - relatively compatible sports)
Do what needs 2 be done so u can kite-sail tomz!
Mow the lawn
Do the edges
Paint the house
Wash the dog
Remove the tree
Do everything that you should've done weeks ago and put off!....
If ur married.... Move the house 3deg to the left and raise it by 4mm just to please her.
[}:)]
Now u can have fun tomz ALL day and no excuses!.... ![]()

I reckon the best complement to windsurfing on the east coast would be white water kayaking. Heaps of rain so all the rivers would be raging. Another good thing is making babies. Both are great fun.
The other thing you could do is sailing dingies. A colleague of mine sails a laser 2 and he reckons its great in light winds. Sort of like formula but the equipment doesn't look weird
, plus you can do it with your friend.
Finally I reckon you could join the Liberal Party. All that spare time could be spent working towards fixing the party and getting helping your fellow citizen get better government in Australia, coz in NSW at least the ALP sucks but the Liberal/Nats are worse.
Politics????![]()
There is a s**t load of other more fun things to do than that!!!
Whenever we vote at my daughters school and witness the infighting, nastiness and down right childiness of the volunteers let alone the actual members it p******s me off no end.
get a SUP or ski and get out there!!!!
Other No-Wind options:
-get married
-get laid
-get divorced
-get religion
-get stoned
-wait
-Some combination of the above
I'm getting ready for the Laser dinghy old fart worlds. There were initially 320 entry spots, they filled in 4 1/2 days....
The thing I notice is that in 10 knots of breeze you're already depowering and even the Raceboards are still going "where's the wind". So while I loooooooove my windsurfing, it's interesting that when you get onto a boat you realise how much aimed at strong winds most boards are. Which is of course cool, but as this topic shows it does have problems.
I got a 67cm wide slalom board (not very big but is ok) and a couple of big sails and I have Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend, some of the days were not what I would call perfection, but it got me out there plaining in about 12knts.
Check this out. Rips along bitumen in 10 knots of breeze with a 3.5 mtr sail. I have 4 of them I want to quit. $200 each (not including the mast base. Thats for illustration purpose) Perfect when you are itching for a sail but not enough breeze to get on the water. Also good for practising moves, I learnt how to duck gybe on one!. Any takers?
move to tassie its allways blowin some where like to day tomorrow the next day back to quack tomorrow bit luck and a strong breeze ill be free again ![]()

I've played a lot of golf this summer, my MTB has had a lot of use and I'm getting to the gym more (not that it's exciting). Least I know I'm relatively fit if the wind blows!
I've actually really got into golf this summer as I can book a tee time and I'm guaranteed that the golf course will be open, there's grass on the greens and there's nothing (other than a big old storm) that will prevent me from playing. Windsurfing on the other hand....
Another speed pursuit, gotta do something that's going to get me broke to the same extent as windsurfing.
Getting the suspension sorted on my car for a bit of track work. Nearly there now after a few windless rainy weekends. I'm sure it's going to get windy once the car is ready. But that's OK, it will be a win win situation.
