A high pressure system to the north extends a ridge over the west of the state. The ridge will slowly move eastwards across the state through to the end of the week. A weak trough will clip parts of the south during Thursday. The high pressure system will move out over the Tasman Sea on Saturday ahead of a vigorous cold front expected to cross the state on Sunday. A low pressure system will move across Bass Strait on Monday morning in the wake of Sunday's front.
