I have noticed the phantom thumber on Mark's posts, as he says it's been going on for over a year.

However, much like trolls, they only have power over you if you acknowledge their existence.

They only have the power if allowed by mods.

On almost all other fora people who behave like that would have been banned long ago.

Maybe this next comment is inconsistent with the fact I post dirty pics and lewd jokes - but seabreeze is under moderated and you have the power Nebbs.

seabreeze is under moderated .

lots of people i know will not use the forums because of the bullying that is allowed by the moderaters (voyeurs)

Hey markie,
turn the colour setting down on your computer so its in black and white.
Then the thumbs bar will be just a shade of grey and you wont need to get upset by the colour red and if people dont agree/like you.
You can thank me later.

No need to get upset about it,more important things in life than red thumbs on SB.
And I think the noobs are smarter than you think,
and can make their own mind up on whats good advice or bad.

I'm all for no thumbs for the same reasons posted above.
Maybe if they weren't anonymous, or if you needed a certain post count or something they could be better.
I've seen some forums use a 'rep' system which can work quite well. It is easier to moderate and harder to be a dick with. Over time it shows which users are worth listening too and actually provide a decent contribution, and those that do not.

I've tried to give green thumbs to a few posts and been told I can't

Really ?? ^^^
lol.
Maybe you tried to bomb a whole thread with reds and then you received the little pop-up message.
Isn't that the truth, Markie ?

hhahahah lmfao you cant green thumb your own posts (i try it all the time) sometimes when i am logged in as another less politically correct profile i green thumb something I wrote as myusernam cos it makes me all warm n fuzzy

good trolling mark

Agreed. Or a note that says "last thumbs up by (name)" and "last thumbs down by (name)" - that would sort out the juvenile few who giggle as they red thumb away in some sort of twisted sort of 'fun'.

I agree too. Any system to anonymously evaluate other users' posts is totally unnecessary in what should be a friendly and intelligent discussion based forum.

Why should anyone care if they get red or green? I know I dont and Ive had plenty of reds.

I dont use them that much myself and generally only if I cant be bothered saying anything.

You've gone and made a sport of it mark. Before there seemed to be just one or two whacko admirers, probably the same no-lifer with multi accounts. There's gonna be at least a few more eejits doing the same now just because they know it pisses you off.

At least the thumbs stop a thread from clogging up with +/-1's posts from people who agree with a post and have nothing else to offer on the subject.

I just used it instead of putting in an angry face. Otherwise someone might have red-thumbed me and I would have been all sad

+1 if you think +1's clog up a post too much.

Seabreeze is way overmoderated (or at least the threat of it exists more pervasively than on other fora).

All the best/biggest/most influential fora have one thing in common - very, very little moderation, if any.
