@ kiteboydave: Just imagine how much bigger this would get if that were the case. The mind boggles. It is possible.

Yes, I hope there's more to the story and it keeps coming out.

I would class myself as a lifelong swinging voter (voting on policy issues I guess), but also a lifelong passionate hater of The Rabbot. I mean I was gutted the day he knifed Turnbull in the back and took power, simply because I knew it would mean having to deal with seeing and hearing him regularly and the nails-on-a-chalkboard reaction I get.

Which means the only joy I can take from this terrible slow-motion 5-year+ train wreck is when the plot thickens like this.

you know he is guilty
I know he is guilty
FWA know he is guilty
the PM and the party know he is guilty
even the hookers know he is guilty

but for the Labor party its batten down the hatches and out with the mantra " let the courts decide " as they know it will take longer than a year.... and next year when they are voted out it wont matter.

Just the labor party clinging top power at all costs as usual.

Given how he took to the media in his display yesterday I would not be surprised if one of those media firms finally fronts up with one of the escourts in the next few days. I reckon the media are going to go after him big time now and money does talk - even if those girls have not wanted to say anything as of yet as their lives have moved on from 7 yrs ago - at a certain point / amount of money they will be persuaded and now the media will meet that price. Just saying.

Dis: He is my local member sadly!!

It would be priceless if one of the ladies of the night appeared on Today Tonight. The ratings would be huge. Of course he would deny it. Even if she produced a dress with semen stains that were DNA match to him he would give an explanation how he'd be set up, possibly going to an IVF clinic and then finding out a nasty HSU union official stole the sample and used it to frame him.

Hey I think I've worked it all out.
I bet Craig is dyslectic and when he was walking by the brothel he saw a sign which he read as;
"Come in and see our array of cunning stunts."
I bet he thought he was walking into a circus.

Your point is a good one. Today tonight or ACA would be willing to put up huge cash for one of the Hookers to go on telly. The whole "scandal" has been going for how many years? and no hooker!........ How's that possible?

Just hold up there fella. Guilty of what is the big question. Remember it's not illegal to go to the prozzies. The method of payment is the important thing and Thomsons accusers have to charge him with something, SPECIFIC. Credit card statements aren't good enough. Sworn statement from the brothel that payment was made BY Thomson, that'l do it. Not just some guy on the phone quoting the credit card number.

Yep thats my point - how can no one recall anything? Sure no ones wants to come on TV and tell the world that in your former life you used to be a hooker etc but money talks and now that he has tried to pick another fight with the media - but this one was more broadly targeted! I think that the money will be free flowing for the right person and yes it would be the most watched program in Australia on the night by a mile plus the thousands of re-runs it would get.....loads of cashola coming some ladies way very soon!!!!!!

it's not illegal to go to the hookers, but it is to use union funds? (I guess if the union prosecutes) but if they dont? still illegal? Wonder how Mrs Thompson is handling the publicity

Back on track for a minute, Kathy Jackson's lawyers are completely anti-union. I suppose that goes without saying as they're Liberal party cronies as per previous post. But point is, why on earth would a union leader go there? Why are they doing her work Pro Bono (For Free)?? And why are they also the same (Liberal) lawyers that Ashby's using to attack Slipper - helluva coincidence isn't it? Dual Trial-by-Media being managed by the one set of (Lib Crony) Lawyers, with the express purpose of destroying the government's majority.

For all I know Craig Thompson is guilty, and Peter Slipper and Sophie Mirabella, but regardless this whole affair is looking just as bad for the Libs. Seems a little bit too stage-managed to me.

If this is true then the Liberals are doing one hell of a job absolutely killing the ALP. Really the Liberals need to be congratulated for formulating an incredible attack strategy that makes the federal ALP look like a bunch of incompetant fools.

If its true why doesn't the ALP advise this is a massive conspiricy orchistrated by the Liberals and their cronies? Bring back the member for Dobell back into the fold too.

True - but it is to mislead Parliament and I imagine using funds that were not yours to do so is not held in high regard either. I think if he had just come clean all those yrs ago it would be all over a long time back and he would be leading a more normal life these days and his new wife would not be facing such heartache. I feel for her - but blame him.

That would be right. They interviewed him for 90mins and will air about 10mins of it (max) - heavily edited to make good TV [}:)]

I still think he did it. Logman I don't buy your explanation (I know you only offered it as a possible).
His workmate could not ring up and order a pro for dine-in, using his card number. As soon as the girl gets there she will have to run the card thru the machine.

Plus the two different explanations given..... hmmmmmm

It seems like it's been years that we've been hearing about this dodgy guy and his antics. I can't believe he's still hanging around, copping it.

What I can't understand is why? He's so disliked.

AFAIC he should have moved on, or been given the shove a long time ago. Please let us get back to running this country.

The only semi credible person in politics I'd get behind now is Malcolm Turnbull - I just don't see anyone else.

Maybe, he would put the republic back on the agenda and we can begin to reinvent the country into something I'd be happier for my children to inherit.

Yes, well, what can I say. Hopefully the coppers will charge him and then he can have his day in court.

Mind you it sticks in my craw just a little bit when the coalition starts going on about the poor lowly paid workers in the HSU. Excuse me while I huk into my hand!!.........after all, the Coalition has opposed every wage rise and every minimum pay increase ....FOREVER.

And the base level politics involved in this is spectacular. The way that every question time in directed towards Thomson........every press conference etc etc . And why are the coalition so relentless on this issue???? is it because they're upholding "decency" in Parliament?

NOPE!!!

If they we're the case they might be concerned with the behaviour or Mary Jo Fisher, or the other fella who's up on assault charges(I forget).
So its not out of any principal that, day after day Pyne and Abbott go for Thomson. It's just because he's that "1" vote. The 1 vote they need. And they'll do ANYTHING to bring down the government. They're so desperate to get they're hands onto government and they'll do anything to get it .

Whether or not Thomson is guilty or innocent of using union money as his own, the Coalition has sunk to new depths as far as I'm concerned

Definitely sinking to new depths. I just don't understand why we are racing to the bottom.

There is so much rot in govt at the moment on all sides. It's pathetic - and you sound pathetic defending it.

- he is almost definitely guilty
- in almost any other parliament he would have 'resigned' long ago, but it may just mean loss of power for labor, so he won't be forced
- the liberals would do exactly the same thing in the same position - only difference is that any liberal spending previous employers money would have been using a private companies funds rather than those of a union representing many of Australias lowest paid workers, hence a little less political mileage
- the libs will not let this go as they think they're getting political points, whilst really the whole affair just lowers even more the public perception of all sides of politics
- the media will not let this go, because they're the media
- the public is sick of the whole thing
- parliament is being bogged down by this - too much discussion on POLITICS and none on POLICY

ENOUGH ALREADY, time to move on.

Turnbull was dealt a mortal blow when he became involved in the "ute-gate" that blew up in his face when it became apparent that his Hench men (the current Mad Monk and cronies) had set it all up and it crashed when ol Godwin fell over.
I agree though, at least I could believe Turnbull somewhat.

Unlike the Mad Monk Abbott, and that sleaze Chris Pyne

I didn't think I was defending it.

There's been plenty of parliamentarians, on both sides that have been charged with illegalities over the years and they end up getting they're fair whack in court. The proceedure usually is they resign from they're portfolio(if they're a government member) and go to the back bench. Thomson's sitting on the cross benches as an "independent" . So I reckon until he's charged.....and convicted, that's where he should stay.

I think that should be the end of the political story. But you can guarantee that Pyne and Abbott will be going at it in question time again today.
