elmo thanks for that list
So I take it that when
they root Gidafi out of Lybia, that would be the place for v/8
owners to resettle ....EH? ![]()

Well that seems to be a fairly reasonable price to me in comparison to other Vespa looking scooters.
The Sachs certainly has the "Industrial Asthetic" in appearance.![]()
I unfortunatly bought ford v8 and though it was the business.... now i dont care ill just deal with the fuel price . Thing is its a ute and like today i hired a 500 kilo compactor for 1 day and saved myself $$$$$$ (truck hire)
Keep the fuel guzler run it into the ground and leave it on the side of the freeway. i did the maths and i couldnt justfy selling it at a loss and buying into the dodgy new car used car dealership. used car sales are the most ripoff ****s ever.
Keep it wear it and run it into the ground.
I bought a "postie" bike (Honda CT110) about 2 years ago. They're absolutely bullet proof and I get around 45 km/l (130 mpg). I live about 5km from the centre of town (Albany) and I just use it as my town bike, sunny days only. The fuel tank holds 4.8 litres and I fill it once a fortnight. I've never run out of fuel. Since owning the postie I only fill my car about every 8 or 9 weeks.
Could be a partial answer?
Just a thought:
To get a litre of milk, what do you do?
Squeeze cow, truck to local factory, filter & heat & bottle, fridge truck to local woolies.
To get a litre of petrol, what do you do?
Dig down several kms, install rig costing millions to half billion, pump to holding facility, put on ship costing hundreds of millions, ship half way round world, put thru refinery which costs billions to build & millions per day to run, transport on smaller ship to tank farm, truck to purpose built distribution centre aka servo.
So why does a litre of branded milk cost more?
Was in my local fruit & veg market yesterday and noticed they had 20 litre drums of vegetable oil for $46. So $2.30 a litre. My local petrol station sells diesel for about $1.50 a litre. Diesel engines will happily run on vegetable oil. Won't be long before it's cheaper to do it that way! ![]()
Oil is getting scarcer so will get more valuable. It is a finite resource
Prices will go up. Get used to it.
Everything that we eat and drink and wear is an oil conversion. They will go up proportionally.
We are doomed.
The cheapest Vegetable oil is Palm oil. They are using it but there is so many other issues around Palm oil that it just wont happen.
While Im on my rant.
Why is the Slingy Fuel so expensive? It's such a good kite, yet it costs so much.![]()
From what I have read, it's not a simple process to use vegetable oil in a diesel engine. There is the danger of stuffing up the fuel pump if you don't know what you are doing. It's very expensive to repair or replace a diesel engine fuel pump.
The answer in the long term to high fuel prices is to reduce our dependence on petroleum products for transportation. In the short term LPG is the way to go unless it is not possible to do so.
The government could also reduce the fuel tax instead of buying digital tv boxes for pensioners.
The answer is just keep doing what you are doing. As long as the demand is there THEY will keep supplying. Price WILL go up as it ALWAYS does.
Stop DEMANDING with the V8 utes and saloons and all the rest of the egotistical crap that we HAVE to have (ie 4 br homes for 2 people to live in etc etc) and the pricks will have nowhere to go.
If you demand it, do not complain about the price.
Ford Fiesta diesel, 3.7 litres per 100/km,problem solved.
Commordore 2010 factory gas 11.5 per 100/km,gas is half the cost meaning less than 6 litres per 100/km.
So with rising prices a lot of folks are considering ditching the V8 and taking up more economical transport that consumes/pollutes less. Not all bad then is it?
Just a pity that realisation had to come from the @rse/hip pocket and not the grey matter.
My new wheels.
Infinite kms/litre, minor service costs, no rego, should save about $2k per year in parking... possibly less beer guttage too.
BTW - I should update the electric bike thread I had going ages ago. Nuttin but dramas with the elation kit (despite good concept and local supplier being a top bloke doing his best with a lemon 3rd version). After lengthy time(s) off the bike, got a refund and reverted to keeping it simple. $550 for a half decent hybrid and drawing on the onboard beer guttage cells for pedal power from here on.
Diesel is a LOT less refined than petrol. Most Oz produced diesel is very little more than filtered and dewaxed light crude. When WAPET (are they still going?) were producing light crude in WA that's exactly what it was. I bought my first diesel vehicle in the late '70s, when it was <50% the price of petrol. Shortly after that the gummint decided to tax the stuff out of existence. They almost succeeded! Asia and Europe have had ultra economical, ultra green diesel cars for decades now.
Here is an interesting article about Opel, the German GM company, planning to bring fuel efficient cars into Australia. The idea of the equivalent of a Barina running on LPG sounds pretty good. That great Aussie car company Holden, is a bit miffed as its being positioned as the cheap Korean car company.http://smh.drive.com.au/green-motoring/amped-holden-volt-faces-opel-inhouse-rivalry-20110520-1evhg.html
I filled the truck up today. $272. On the company Shell card but it still depresses me, standing there watching the meter tick over. How long before they beam Fawlty Towers at you to raise your spirits?
It's an agi, Dinsdale, I started doing my HC but realised that I would never feel safe with 40 foot of freight swinging around behind me and the roads smattered with lunatics![]()
