You didn't have to wait in the post office for 20 minutes with cues of people just to buy some stamps

I remember when stamps were 33c
For that matter, when you could actually give them 33c, as we had 1c and 2c coins

I remember 1c and 2c lollies at the deli, so 50c for a mixed bag could pretty much get you giggly and stupid like you were on speed.

Awesome

(Then again now that half the kids seem to have ADHD they get the same for free from the GovCo )

What do you want stamps for when you have email?

Post offices are for sending packages and collecting ebay purchases.

I last went to the post office...hmm on second thought, no I can't remember

As an aside the Post office as a sustainable business model in todays world is almost dead, if it wasn't for ebay and internet shopping the PO as we know it would not exist, I actually wonder how much longer it will exist in it's semi current state.

I remember when people who could not afford a TV set would take their lounge chairs down to the footpath in front of the local electrical shop at night time and watch the TV in the window of the shop.

Television came to Australia in 1956.

Was that for a V8 or only a single head?

Bet they didn't include valve grinding and stem seals at that price?

OK how about going slightly off topic, how much of the old currency colloquial can you remember.

don't remember a farthing in Aus, that's from when I was a tot in pommy land.
halfpenny, penny, threepence, Zack, bob, deener, halfcrown? (was this from pommy land as well),
10 bob note, quid, fiver, tenner.

I remember leaving money in the bank for years and it actually grew in value.
Now it's absorbed by fees.

I remember (in some chronological order)

My dad buying his first 'new' car - HQ Monaro $4k.

I remember wagging school to go to the local shop to play space invaders.

When home interest rates were 18%.

I remember when nightclub entry required a collar, black pants & 'dress' shoes.

I remember going home from work to check my messages on the answering machine.

I remember my business bank manager visiting me regularly at my workshop just to check if things were going ok?

I remember when I moved here...I thought it was the windiest place I'd ever lived in...

How things have changed?!

I have always wondered why they call it flake?
