I remember leaving the beach when it got windy!!!
Selling gold at $276 an ounce and being stoked. Driving to raglan for a surf and stop at the shell shop on route to check the weather map in the nz herald newspaper. There were never crowds mid week. It would be perfect with 4 others.....oh what has happened?
I remember when I could get a bottle of Bundy for $18!
I remember when you went to the servo people actually filled ur car up for you!
or what about when you could get $1.20 worth of chips and there was more than enough for ur mates too!

We used to get plenty of hot chips or several big potato scallops for 6 pence (5 cents) wrapped in newspaper on the way home from school. We walked or rode our bikes and it was several miles/kms. No-one ever got dropped at school.
Pot of beer for 20c - in 1970/1, I remember that because I was a Bar Mgr in Mt Isa, and just turned legal age to drink at the time, figure that one out.
I remember "super" being 47.5c/L. Last night driving home it was $151.9 ![]()
I remember going to the shop before school and you could buy Eucos (Eucalyptus lollies) for 1c each.
Cans of coke were 60c at the high school canteen.
watching old surf movies at the town hall.
The boys would set up a projector and all us grommets would froth at "morning of the earth" or one of the other old classics.
The older crew would turn up pissed or stoned.

Recess (never like spelling) was a twistie roll, not the chicken flavour unless you were a ****ta washed down with a banana big M.
Vomit material now of course.
A chocolate Paddle Pop was 5c. Choo Choo bars were 2c.
On my P plates I drove my mum's 56' Vdub to school. After a lunch time surf we put 60c worth of petrol in it and it got us back to school and home again.

i remember when on way on to primary school each morning with my 5 pence
spending money, i would stop at Spar shop and buy packet of crisps [potato chips]
for 3p, still having 2p left for lollies.
I remember the first digital watch with the enormous red numbers you had to activate by pressing the switch, how about the 1st "pocket" electronic calculator.... needed 6 AAA batteries and I could adjust my first car carbie with a screwdriver only! a pack of **** was 60 cents and a pint of beer was cheaper than a coke............ well i hate to remember tels my age
