We hear all the bad things our government has done.
We hear about the ;
corruption, the failed insulation, schools and solar programs that they have invested,
wasted money lack of reinvestment in our electricity schemes.
The unpopular Carbon and Mining taxes attacking our successful WA tax earning companies. The refugee programs in a mess. The increasing gun violence and the lack of movement against this. And I could continue..
But .... are there any successes? Does anyone know anything successful our Labor Government has done?
There are lots of Schools around Australia that are recipients of new buildings that are enhancing childrens education both in the private and public sectors I guess that's a failure?
Gave me cheap home insulation, subsidised my solar heating (my power bills have halved), built a new playgrond in the local park, increased old age pensions, delivered super fast broad band to my relos house (bye bye Foxtel) and best of all annoy middle aged kiters ![]()
Winning with Jules and the Bobster ![]()

Moved the tax free treshold to $18,000.00, gave me $900.00, good rebate on solar panels, new canteen at my local school, no recession so far.
I wish I knew what the libs are going to give me if they get in ??????? All I eard is we will blah blah blah better than the labs!![]()
VERY happy with the improvement new facilities at my son's state primary.![]()
New canteen for volunteers (old one was a very small demountable - in full sunlight and must have made a sweat shop look like a holiday).
New undercover assembly/play area (old one had was stinking hot and had parts of roof missing/leaking).
New library 4 x bigger than old one (which also meant old library became a new classroom).
Oh - and a small matter that (despite being bagged by all those in opposition whilst they were looking for every negative angle whatsoever) the govt had the nurries, spent up and saved ALL our bacons. Now Oz's economic situation is envied by all and sundry OS.
So.. they aren't perfect by a long shot.. but I see them overall as successful.
Thanks for asking bjw. ![]()
+1 to keeping Abbot (prepared to sell his @rse to get power) away from the controls. A MASSIVE success right there.
Gave money to pinko greenie no hopers for overseas fact finding missions about land rights for gay whales?
Which would be good if you were a pinko greenie no hoper going overseas fully paid for a fact finding mission about land rights for gay whales.
Guess that is a positive for the vocal 1%, so must be a good thing.
and great success for entertainment value. Great current affair stories. I cant remember where my 900 bucks went though.
i spose people can say the government has screwed all of this stuff up, we hear about the 5 houses that burnt down because of faulty insulation but not the how many other thousands that didn't, it's the same with solar panels, i don't believe that it's the governments fault that companies that are using these schemes to their advantage are subcontracting it to people who are sub contracting it even further.
Its the same with the schools you hear about the one school that got a canteen that was badly built, but not the 000's that got buildings that are used and where needed, i don't see that the government is to blame i think that the contractors that sub contract it out to people who sub contract it out to people who do one bad job out of 500 should be to blame as they are just taking advantage of a government funded incentive to make money for themselves.
just my thoughts

I'm not a big fan, but I think there's actually a massive reality / perception gap in Australia. Our economy is doing really well (esp compared to the rest of the developed world), we consistently feature in the top 5 or 10 best countries for things like quality of life, health, life expectancy, education etc, our currency is super strong (is there anyone who hasn't been overseas in the last year?) and yet somehow we all seem to be convinced that it's all going to ****. Maybe it's just WA that's doing so well and the other states really are struggling, or maybe we just need to stop and appreciate how good we've got it sometimes. Start by switching off talkback radio.
That said I'ld love it if there was a credible 3rd party to vote for next time round - labor not very impressive, libs even less so.
i've been building for 35 years and i've never seen recession like it or last so long.
Unfortunatley you haven't seen anything yet.
BTW peoples our currency will soon be devalued.
They've done diddly for me... and I've had to put up with the trauma of listening to that back stabber.
No free nothing; hey wait, my taxes paid for your free sh!t, give me some of it back mo'fos!
Granted that some of the things they have done have been good;
The insulation scheme might have been good for many, but it clearly wasn't a success.
The 900$ was again fun, but my business saw a sales kick of 1 week then receded to the pre-stimulas level afterwards. Again ok performance, but not a success.
But Im still waiting for a success????
This gov't has actually been remarkably successful at passing law through parliament - we are talking almost record breaking numbers here. It's not very sexy but it's a real measure of a government's achievement in terms of it's core function.

Great if you have debts!![]()
Another good thing from the labs if it happens!![]()

Lets hope so, get manufacturing jobs back
YES!
I STILL HAVE A JOB!!
Believe me, that wasn't a given when the gfc hit... lots of managers looking really worried for a while there.
My kid's local primary school got a new $1M dollar classroom to replace some old demountables. It only cost $2M....
