And the other one "ask's", (another eastern stater term), it is "ask", "ask's is asking twice as in plural.

Not sure what you mean there Roger. One asks what's wrong with "asks".

An odd one is "arks" instead of "ask". Its common Murri usage. Doesn't sh1t me. Its just funny like juvenile English.

That it, you got it in one, arks.

Other one that sh!ts me is old school cockney slang, or same sounding word used instead. Alright probably a few decades ago, but comes across a bit lame these days (not funny).
This old bloke at work does it all the time, half of us dont know what he's on about

Can we do clichés too?

Saying things are "average" when they are crap is getting a bit average.

Saying "and that's what it's all about" when all you you mean is "this is part of the story" is trite and annoying.

Asterix instead of Asterisk. I think this one is mispronounced more than it's said correctly.

Regarding quantum leap, nothing says that the quanta has to be small. It really means that something has gone from one value to another value, without going through all the values in between.

As Notwal pointed out it was originally used to talk about electron energies, but it can be used to mean anything.

"Mateship" sh1ts me. If it was just a casual Occer expression like drongo or fair dinkum it'd be sweet, but its an abused and loaded expression redolent with manipulative intent.

Curse the poet who deified mateship. Curse the poli who seized upon it to utter his mischief away.

Didn't Asterix hang out with Obelix and Dogmatix, and that druid?

My pet hate also.

I loved the Asterix books as a squid and reckon so did many folks - hence the widespread misuse. About 5% correct usage at best I'd say.

Stangely, no-one complains about the Obelix problem facing unhealthy kids though do they?

I'm no hoon, but I must be, 5 k over the limit adds up, trust me. The sheriff is after me, wish we could just have a shoot out and settle things in a gentlemanly manner.

That's what I remember Leapy Lee for. Does anyone remember "Little Arrows"?

Similar are burgYOUlar verses burglar, umbErella verses umbrella, and as said before nukYOUlar verses nuclear.
The latter is an error shared by Eisenhower, Bush and Homer Simpson.
