I just had it out with my boss, who is going to vote no. One good thing came out of the conversation though, I have confirmed that I have the freedom to change my working hours if it doesn't get in. ![]()
"Scientist have come up with two plausilble theories as to why Crocs are now venturing further south after the recent sightings at Coral Bay. One marine science polartition claims it's because daylight savings has finished in W.A. this has resulted in a greater time difference now between NT and WA. The crocs are taking advantage of this and by coming down into W.A. they are able to lie in the shadows created by the earlier setting sun. This makes them more difficult to see and allows them to stalk their unsuspecting prey. The Other, a Oceanegraphic economist claims the Global Recession is probably more likely to be the cause. In the recent years of economic boom the cost of travel was never a concern. Now with retirees investment funds halved and fuel prices still so high, the Grey Nomad set can no longer afford to travel the vast distances into the great Ausie North. As a result, the availabilty of the crocs natural food source, (the pet Chuaua) has diminished greatly resulting in the Croc having to come further South in search of this reptilian delicasy"
yet another reason to get rid of daylight savings!
less unseriously-if the worst you all have to worry about is a clock change-well things are pretty dam good i reckon. And I say that for myself also (a firm "no" voter)
Those who get really excited and nasty about it all (from both sides) need to get a grip.
Calling WA a backward state-well, maybe you need to get out a bit more perhaps and see what the other 75% of the world live with?
Its all good-either way. None of us are going to die, starve or get lynched or be subjected to Sharia law which ever way it goes.
BEFORE I GIVE A YES OR NO (BUT I ALREADY KNOW WHT ILL SAY) HOW MANY OF YOU ABOVE ARE 9 TO 5 OFFICE WORKERS ??????????????????
Isn't pretty much everything else in society (ie public transport etc etc) geared around 9-5 workers as they are by far the majority?
Being an industrial state I would think there would be almost an even split of the 9-5 (ie Retail, CBD) and the industrial 6-3
THE SKY IS BLUE, WATER'S WET, THE SUN RISES AND SETS EVERY DAY. ![]()
Doesnt everyone know WA stands for "wait awile"???? Doesnt everyone know that the curtains will fade, the cows wont milk and the chooks wont lay if we have DLS???? Come on guys, think about it
, its true ![]()

Sharkies on the money with his view above. It seems "Perth" speaks for the whole of WA. DLS is designed for those poor souls who have to work their 9-5. They get up at 8, get home at 6 and want an "extra" hour of sun light. "Extra hour of sun light" ![]()

does the world slow down during summer ![]()

Can someone please let me know.
Try getting up when at sunrise one day, you will be amazed, surprised and proberbly enjoy the "experience".
WA, mmmmmmmm. Stats "suggest" that WA carries the rest of Australia, (mining, agriculture, farming) so wouldnt you have to agree that the "rest" of WA would be the majority. The ones who, no matter what fricken time it is, get up at sunrise or before, for their dayly grind, a grind of 12-18 hours per day.
9-5 ![]()

there's no such thing in these boys dictionary.
So at the end of the day, I dont give a **** what we have, (cause the "pollies" will do what they want anyway - a vote or not).
Im one of the before sunrise croud doing the 12-18 hours per day.
But hay, I still get out in my boat every week, I still take the family to the beach every week, I still drink heaps of beers with my mates every week.
Go figure. Cheers. ![]()

Previously I said:
"So at the end of the day, I dont give a **** what we have, (cause the "pollies" will do what they want anyway - a vote or not)".
I was watching the news last night and it seems simple enough.
Write a "YES" in the BOX if you want DLS or write a "NO" in the box if you dont want DLS.
BUT, AND HERE IS THE BIG BUT:
IF YOU PLACE A TICK IN THE BOX, IT WILL BE COUNTED AS A "YES" VOTE BUT IF YOU PLACE A CROSS IN THE BOX, --------- IT WONT BE COUNTED AT ALL. ![]()

Am I missing something here???????????????????????????????????????????????![]()
I thought we lived in AUSTRALIA ??????????. Aparrently FARKING NOT.
I heard that YES votes will be counted as YES and NO votes will be counted as YES.
Put a TICK in the box and it will be counted as YES and CROSSES in the box will be counted as YES.
well the really hardest thing about it all is digging out the sundial to reset it so many times a year [}:)]![]()
nothing changes![]()

WA = Wait Awhile?????? WTF.
Both Western Australia and Queensland didn't / don't have DLS and are the main drivers of the Australian economy, so why don't the rest fall in line with us.
There's a business argument for you, look where the revenue is coming from and not where it is being "spent" (read wasted).
Does anyone even remember that the vote was previously taken and the answer was NO. It is getting a bit much that we are being asked for a fourth time about something that has been voted on before.
How many different versions of NO do you people need?
VOTE NO
I'll duck my head now![]()
"In The West today" Be Careful how you vote.
The law requires voters to write either Yes or No in the box on the ballot, but the WAEC confirmed yesterday that while any deviation could render a vote informal, a tick would be counted as a Yes vote.
Mr Waddell told about 50 No campaigners, including about 15 Labor, Liberal and Nationals MPs and WAFarmers representatives, the decision to allow ticks was a disgrace.
He said he had a message for the commission: “Yes means yes (and) No means no. A tick? What does a tick mean? You are trying to manipulate the outcome of this referendum by allowing ticks to mean yes and crosses to be informal.
CAN EVERYBODY REMEMBER TO VOTE FOR DAYLIGHT SAVING ON MAY 16TH.
IT WILL BE A REALLY CLOSE VOTE.
THIS MORNING WAS STILL DARK AT 7AM so i got to have a nice long lie in; without the sun rudely awakening me.
IF DAYLIGHT SAVING IS VOTED IN IT WILL BE DARK DURING SUMMER EVEN AFTER 7AM!!!!! errrrrrrr dont think so
IMAGINE GETTING UP AT 6AM TO HAVE A SWIM BEFORE WORK you must be as mad as madman, who has overdosed on mad pills
AND HAVING TO WAIT OVER 1 HOUR BEFORE DAYLIGHT!!!!! most times i wait between 9 -11 hrs for daylight.
IF YOU LOVE COMMON SENSE VOTE FOR DAYLIGHT SAVING
c'mon you no voters, pause, take a deep breath, stop thinking up lames excuses, move FWD with the rest of the world.![]()
CHEERS
Daylight saving is common sense ?
A hot issue for sure and we surely all differ on this one but I hope it's voted OUT.
I find that there's enough light by natural timing , normal hours.
Our summers are now hotter than ever due to climate change.
For me, daylight saving extends that harsh Perth summer heat.
My watch and clocks stay on normal hours right through daylight saving.
It doesn't affect me.
Hey Diver
Judging by your Avatar (One of the most arrogant, self obsessed footy players ever) I wouldn't expect any other sort of response from you.
