Sounds like no one missed out ,smart marketing. Ben has been at maroochydore a couple of times , you think he would put a couple on the beach to demo, na. another marketing ploy, cant get a bad or good review. It looks like the kite goes for him, what wouldnt, **** on a stick perhaps , most crew will already have demoed and upgraded before there on our beach!

I think the bar looks like it's perfect. What is with the spaz outs Waxman? What is the problem with a rider with huge name recognition because of years of busting his ass going out on his own instead of lining someone elses pockets?

There is always one eh?

So you think that BW had enough time to develop the kite and didn't just go to HK and and stick his finger in a catalogue and say i will have that?

Then offered them to the first 100 riders at a discount, which is taking money away from local kiteshops who he probably expects to push his gear latter, great way to support a industry that has supported him for so long. All that he has done is lined his own pocket.

I will believe the hype once there is someone out there that has done a review on the gear that doesn't have a romantic interest in BW.

Bw should have spent the next season at least doing continuous R & D to fine tune the kite in all of the sizes, then got out there with some demos for everyone to try and once the hype was justified look for some retail outlets to promote and sell his gear. I know you all think he is a god, but can he really do in months what most kite companies spend there lives doing year after year with professional kite designers R&d teams and marketing research people.

If i was to buy a Aus kite at the moment it wold be a griffin because they have been tried and proven to be a winner. Bws on the other hand looks like a dogs breakfast.

isnt that the 100 test team riders to give feedback, after the initial design has been tested by designers and pro's. getting feed back from 100 test riders first off is better than dumping a truck load onto the market to r&d them

SS has already done all the R and D for BW.
Kit looks pretty nice and seems a really good price.

If you have read the other 200 BWS threads you would know that the kite isn't still in development this is it and they just wanted a easy way to get kites out there. If these 100 riders were part of the R&D team they would test the gear give feedback then when the final version comes out they would send these kites back and have them replaced with the production kite that they contributed in designing at there own expense. Do you think this will happen?

If you believe that BWS only supplied the first 100 people with up to 2 kites at $1000 a go. then this privileged R & D team have contributed up to $200,000 to the company's R&D. Do you think that BW has put that much money in to the company? Seeing as these guys aren't getting new kites after the end of the development period you can only assume that they have got a share in the company and should get there share of the profits. But this is also unlikely

The most likely thing is that BWS wanted to make money quick and that is what they have done. I'm sure the thankyou card is in the mail.

Even with waxys negative point making the BW promotion train is gaining speed... Ive met the guy, hes a hell of a dude and no one can deny his passion and drive for the sport.. If anyone deserves to make a buck out of kiting then i reckon it should be him...At least hes not some faceless company man wiping his arse with fifties and never leaving the office...
As far as the kites go, as always time will tell...

Why does everybody resent anybody trying to make a living from kiting?
As soon as someone stands up and tries something, they get cut down with bitchy comments.

Flucking strange sport this one.

The bar looks like a cheap piece of alloy rapped in a tennis racquet grip.

It also looks like the top section locates in the bar to stop the chicken loop from turning when unhooked which is a great idea, but then looks like there is swivel under the cleat completely making the above useless.

But with the small amount of time put in to R&D on this kite there is bound to be some flaws in the first couple of years. Can't wait to see some reviews and see how they hold up, and see shop reactions to getting screwed over by BW on there first release of kites, like it or not he is taking money out of there pockets to fill his own then probably expects them to push his brand latter. Time will tell.

dude, the more you post on seabreeze forums the more you sound like a total effing moron.
any shop or business that would have any affiliation with you or would consider you a 'team' rider would certainly be destined for total failure... but then again south aus is the joke of australia

waxmoron; dude, anyone who has been on seabreeze more than a year would know that I can't stand tall bens kite flicks, but even i can understand the guy knows his shnit.

he may not know how to make a kite flick, but he damn well knows his kites.

he is not a store riding kook such as yourself... he knows kitesurfing inside and out. his kites are aimed at wave riding, you yourself admit you can't surf and are a total kook when it comes to waves... so fat baldo, shut the hell up

the "r'n'd" as you put it, has been done through his years of kiting in waves most people wouldn't even consider surfing....

look who he has riding..... ryland and beaver to name a few, your boardshort over wettie fat arse could not hold a dollar shop birthday candle to the amount of talent backing this guy and the direction he is pushing his niche of kiting.

thats totally not homers' profile on your avatar, thats your thick skull and pee brain.

If I owned the shop you claimed to have an affiliation with, I'd totally be embarrassed to have anything to do with you... TOOL

i saw a guy down brighton on friday riding a 12m noise and had a chat with him about the kites. the bar and lines looks really nice and the chicken loop is possibly the neatest nicest looking one i have seen on the market, although i think it might be a tad hard to put it back together bobbing around in the water if you ejected it, but in saying that, i have till now never had to eject my kite. i gotta say, the kite shape was almost identical to the slingshot octane. the guy reckons that slingshot were not listening to the development suggestions ben was giving so decided to perfect it himself.also said just the one colour and zero marketing bull****, me personally, am keen to try one. i like home grown stuff and these look really solid in the flesh

Bruce i hope your bringing back the 5'9 Drifters!

Ryland got red thumbed for the above comment so I probably will as well, but I can see why he is hanging out to get one. I have been using one of the 5'9" Drifter boards for a couple of months and I have to say I love this board, it is so fast & smooth through the chop and it absolutely trucks upwind enabling you to get more waves per session.

No I am not part of the BWS test team and didn't even apply, I am just your average (or less than ) rider but I have tried lots of boards lately and this one has put the biggest smile on my dial.

Sure some other boards may be more responsive due to more tail rocker but they just don't go upwind anywhere near as well.

i think nowdays u do whatever u can, direct, shops, promo idea or a mix - whatever works for your business.

The internet has enabled business models to work that would never have worked before. Most retail storefront shops are onto it and have ebay accounts/ online sales promo ideas, pretend shop sponsorship packages, pretend used/seconds equipment also - you do what you gotta do to get by in this fickle risky business I reckon and if you keep your customers happy all good.

I say good luck with it and fck badmouthing from kitebusiness to kitebusiness, even worse kitesurfer to kitesurfer.
