I've been on a 9m Bandit Dos for a couple years now and love the depower of the kite, the speed of the kite and specifically the boosting height from the kite..
I recently went to a 9m Bandit III and find it hard to jump as high as I do on my Dos..
So I'm looking at getting a different kite as my Dos is on its last legs..
What kites on the market have the aspect ratio built for doing big boosts?
I'm sure I'll get slammed and people will say "every kite can jump big", etc... So if that is your opinion or answer, please don't respond... Note that I'm looking for a kite that has the aspect ratio more like a Bandit Dos rather than a Bandit III
Thanks for your help
Gary
used to fly the dos myself, nearest kite on the market to the dos in the north fuse, if its big air you want try the ozone edge ![]()

Three pages debating the best kite to boost on, I think the Ozone Edge is beyond my skill level but that doesn't stop me from wanting to pinch one of AKS's demo's for a play.
...but I just need to wait until there is sufficent wiggle room on the credit card, just in case I want to make an impulse purchase.
Rebel without fail. I used to be a regular ozone rider but have recently made the switch to a rebel. It really is the do anything kite.
Core GT 7m or 9m is the closest newer kite you will get to the DOS. Basically the same shape with a refined bridle and one pump. The GTS has a revised canopy shape and a lighter feel, with more of an unhooked focus. The GT is just raw power.
Built next door in the same factory are North kites, and the Fuse looks like being the other brother to the DOS and GT. Also, the later revision Best Kahoona's apparently are around the mark.
Try those 4.
P.S. you will need to make your own rear line extensions if you want to use the DOS bar. Bandit 2 doesn't have equal length lines like the others.
It also depends on what type of jump you want:
A high aspect, flat kite (Edge, Crossbow) will take you up slowly like an elevator and you will glide downwind quite a bit.
A Delta will yank you up there more aggressively.
An allround freeriding kite can be a good medium, e.g. the Ocean Rodeo Rise jumps quite aggressively and also high with good hangtime.
A c-kite will sling you up there pendulum style and drop you quite fast. You gotta ride fast and hold the edge for a bit to get good airs.
That said, my personal boosting favourites so far are the Nemesis HP and Ocean Rodeo Rise.
Naish ar 5![]()
Seriously tho I got some nice boosty floaty jumps today on a griffin argo 13,5 2012![]()
(similar kite to bandit)
Those are some great suggestions.. Thanks for that..
I was looking at a Core GT this week to buy, but will now look at some of the other suggestions just to see what I can find...
Thanks again for all the help..

Nothing beats the old C-kites for boosting.
These days I have to watch a video clip to see some one go massively high
So is it the kite. or the skill level?
First comment of demo feedback on the Best Kahoona is almost always its boosting & hangtime. I have to agree - they boost like a champagne cork at a wedding and hangtime is awesome.
It may just be another delta but I reckon it has to be something to do with the centre panel. They are truly surprising. Defo worth look if boosting & freeride is your thing.
The 'Epic' screamer shoots you up like a rocket,
the odd kite height jumps in squalls at the 'Pond' yesterday makes me think this ![]()
+1 for puppets comment, was always a little wary of Bests but was truly surprised at the ease in which the Kahoonas boost you and let u drift back down. Good low end and seemed pretty good in waves too. Not real stoked on the bars though
7m Core GT + 35knots + Pull the Bar All the way in.
Then pull on one side of the bar as hard as you can.
Send us a seabreeze message if you're not dead afterwards.
Owned and flown Kahoonas, Core GTS and Rebels. GTS probably beats rebels and the kahoona, rebels next, then the kahoona - they all go big. Rebels are the most stable of the lot in terms of gettting down in one piece.
The Older GT I've been told boost bigger than them all.
But the biggest boosting kite I have ever owned, believe it or not, was the flysurfer pyscho 4!! But at everything else it was complete crap, hence didn't have for long. But what it showed me was a nothing will boost, then glide, then land as well as a proper wing...
Now the closest on the market to a proper airfoil wing is the Ozone edge. That would be my choice for boosting. On that was your question, not surfing, boosting.
Haven't flown one - I will soon at AKS, but from what I can gather from a lot of research nothing will beat that kite if it is big boosting you want! After all, that is its design reason - and racing. Apparent wind my friend, apparent wind.
Come and give one of my GT's a go Eppo, I need someone to show me how to boost properly. I keep getting smashed up on the landings, god help me if I actually get some height as well.
