Maybe Sky Solbach and Rowdy should have their own comp at Rylands slab man on man.If Rowdy wins he gets to be a paid judge on the KSA so Felix can be in the comp.If Sky wins Rowdy gets banned from all forums and has to ride strapped and hooked in for ever more.
Great to see the chicks in the final all strapless..was there any footage of them because I didn't see any or maybe it was to quick to tell

Too late now Kent, this is probably the nastiest thread I have ever read on this forum sad times for kitesurfing when you cant post clips anymore because it from the wrong organisation, wrong brand, wrong gear, kiting waves with straps and doing ocean races without straps

If some riders like the idea of a tour in offshore locations, why not give them the choice? As a wave dude I wouldn't be too excited about flying half way around the world (not that cheap either) to ride 3ft waves in Germany, Queensland in summer etc.
Ideally you would have a wave tour with a format and conditions that appeal to the riders, which is exciting to watch, and as a result of the latter gets some money in and can in turn pay the competitors.
Apparently there is no wave tour that ticks all of those boxes, and if the ideas differ too much to meet in the middle, why not have multiple options?
It could be like in boxing with multiple belts/champions, it creates more hype overall and eventually you could have a big unification bout at the beach. 
If things are stagnating, some competition with different ideas and business models is generally not a bad idea, and eventually people could learn from both approaches and unite the whole things again. 
Other than that, I don't think that Kristin does her KB4girls etc. just because of some evil selfish interest. In turn, you could ask what the fuss about "protecting the PKRA" is all about. Some people worried about their jobs?

Hmmmm interesting read. I don't know kristin so I can't comment on her nature, but I know sir rowdy pretty well and I don't think he ever would say something in such a concise way as this unless he was actually serious and knew something. He usually just posts stupid sly remarks on here to get people worked up and this post doesn't really fit the bill. I also doubt he would be doing it to protect his job, I doubt that judging would give you that much money [would it? anyone know] and if I am not wrong he would be far better off getting a job with his degree [if he has finished that by now.] I had also heard some rumors from other people involved with the tour stop organisations about IKA and other stuff, so I'm not doubting that something is going on there.

but in regards to "protecting pkra" it makes sense due to that silly comp called KPWT, you know the one where all the 2nd rate riders who couldn't cut it in the PKRA would go to compete then run around claiming to be world number 1 when, infact the competition level wouldn't even scratch the top 5 riders level of the pkra. Protecting the PKRA (the higher level of riding between the two) from being devalued by events such as kpwt is important, especially for the riders involved who busted their asses to get to where they are now.

When you work out why your parents didnt pay u enough attention maybe you will come on here and say some positive stuff. The Australian kite community is social and friendly in real life. Go to any kite event in the country and you will see this.
Comments and attacks on this forum are sometimes presented by a minority with mostly commercial interests.
My reasons for writing are also commercial, I hope these few lines can convince the forum operator and moderators to think a little more about what gets on here so people like you are enticed to participate in one of the best sports there is to do on water.
A friendly and happy kiting community exists and is doing well at local beaches, which is the best place to also to do your chattering.

Lol, concerned about a little banter on the forum scaring away newbies, coming from a magazine which actively tries to destroy kite boarding. Not even a site sponsor (yet has company name showing and banner pic pimping out).
With this rubbish coming through at the moment a good load of pimping by non sponsoring companies can only be a relief for this forum.

The comp is well and truly over but this thread just keeps on going, must be time for me to post another vid.
I watched the women's final and they were strapped...and I watched the losers final and they were strapless but should have been strapped because it was pretty bad kiting for supposedly worlds best...if that is the worlds best then they are not going to be taken seriously as professionals, Boese said,the chicks won't be respected if they continue to ride strapped but you are not going to be respected riding strapless either if you keep falling off In 3-4ft surf ..where were the rippers like Clarissa,Gabi,Adriana etc...I think Boese won her 9 titles when there was no real competition on the tour in the early days ...it was whoever could do the best unhooked raley..bit like layne beachly..neither of them would get a look in these days.
So much to say...
firstly - Its an awesome wave. Ive kited it for many weeks over 4 years. Ive also surfed it in the mornings before the wind has come on. While its known as one eye, its a long wave with a few sections; and the surfing happens at the end of it, the kiting is good all along it. To say its too offshore and a race and you cant do a proper turn on it is just silly. I didn't watch all the heats, but certainly some had very very offshore wind, but some didn't and some of the turns i saw were sick. if you can depower your kite, you can ride the wave without being heavily influenced by the offshore wind. also of course the wind varies and at times its very offshore and other times its just nice. One eye cops alot of wind and consistently big swell. its a great location for a comp. the "racers" on the face, are just scared to slow down and risk being gobbled by it. The guys and gals who aren't turning properly, are simply not doing it right. Its not edge fest at all, your lines go slack after every bottom turn. you only edge against the kite when you need to go faster and out run the scarey lip behind you.
Secondly: the KSP has given Australian kitesurfing, both freestyle and waves, a huge hit. Tens of thousands of dollars of government support for the sport are now not coming our way as a direct result of the KSP. The Goldy PKRA has been cancelled for 2011 (hopefully will return for 2012) for a few reasons, but largely because of the KSP. Now that the PKRA is not the official world championship tour for wave riding, the government funding is technically not available for the wave event. Since they scheduled their tour stop to clash with the Gold coast tour stop, the worlds top riders cant be assured to attend the Gold coast, and the government funds are technically not available.
Third: I did sign the petition. I sat to dinner with Sky and Kristen, and discussed the short comings of the PKRA wave tour, and enthusiastically signed the petition after careful consideration, and focussed questioning of its purpose and intended use. At this time there was never any mention of an alternative tour. Even in the discussions of the PKRA wave tour short-comings, we discussed possible solutions and ways to improve it and move forward. I would not have signed the petition if it had been made clear that it was to be used to start an alternative tour and i know others who feel the same. The petition formed the basis for the IKA to sign over the rights of the world championship title from the PKRA to the KSP.
From the beginning, its reasons for being (to improve the wave tour) were obviously going to be better achieved through actually improving the wave tour that existed, rather than starting a rival tour, that competed for titles, sponsors, riders and media exposure. the KSP has definitely been detrimental to the sport here in Australia, and has definitely been detrimental to the PKRA's building momentum.
Having said all that - they have done some great things - the location and showcase of wave-riding is awesome. the live streaming (although not the best quality) has definitely raised the bar, and hopefully next year there will be only one tour, that all riders, sponsors and governments can get behind, that has excellent locations, media and that can show the sport at its best. Well done to the KSP for putting on a great event,its just a shame it had to have such a negative impact on the PKRA, the riders and the other flow on effects such as the loss of our world championship event in Australia.
Because there is no prize money unlike every other Pro sport I know of (hence Pro... being paid compared to Amateur... not being paid ) it should be the KSA not KSP ... therefore it should be the World Amateur title rather than a Pro title ....Just like surfing...
The Pro title should have been left up to the PKRA ..
Rather than Boese setting up a totally different tour the IKA should have recommended she put her efforts into helping out the PKRA wave tour if she wanted to make improvements and if that wasn't successful then think about setting up a seperate tour.
Coinciding a KSP comp with the PKRA comp is obviously intentional.
I would like to know why Gabi Steindl who is for sure the best female kitesurfer around (better than most guys) and Clarissa Hempel who is also a standout were not invited.

the pkra wave comps were a real joke as all they are interested in is getting the freestyle done so if its the best time for waves but the freestyle is on, you just have to wait. this was the case in dakhla this year and the conditions in lanzarote were a joke. no one want to watch onshore riding where scores are given for turns in the whitewater!
are you sure the ksp took the money away from the Goldie comp? maybe its something to do with no conditions and no result last year. sponsors won't just throw money at a bad egg in this economic climate!
last year the pkra riders committee put all the proposals to the pkra about having stand alone wave events in good conditions but they didnt want to know due to the fact they make more money combining with freestyle/race and having in more populated locations at peak tourist time which unfortunately is when conditions are bad. the ksp has the right vision with a longer waiting period with limited entrants so they can finish in 3 days of good conditions. after the success of mauritius im sure sponsors will com on board and next year will see prize money and possibly 5 stops.
look at the asp and how successful they have been since going to good waves and live webcasts. the ksp is the future with the pkra/continental champs as the qualifying series and once people realise this and work together, wave kiting will be the one to benefit rather than a few individuals pockets.
this in my opinion from seeing it first hand is the ksp's vision from the whole of their board- kristin,sky,mitu,guilly
be sure to watch peru starting 19th oct for high performance turns, airs and all sorts of strapless stuff youve never seen before. hopefully these big name riders people keep calling the best will turn up and face the likes of Mitu and Airton
