Hey guys/girls.
If anyone is interested in a Lanno to Wedge downwiner, just send me an inbox message and we let can you know what's going down.
Always great having an awesome session and meeting new crew.
We had 5 in total last run, atm we have 7 keen for the run next weekend.
We will start from Lanno then head up the coast ending at Wedge Island, keep in mind total kiting is probably close to 50kms and takes 3.5 hours to complete.
Heaps of outer reefs, flat water & beachies.
Naturally, due to the distance and remoteness of the location it would be advisable if you are a competent kiter.
PM for details.
Looking at Sunday atm. Subject to change.
Try make the final call by Thursday.
What day is good for you?
Cool looking to stay in Lano Saturday Nite i don't fancy the 2 hour drive home after a 3.5 hour DW would also imagine i'll be pretty dehydrated so a few quite coldies wont go amiss ![]()
I might be tempted if it's Sunday if I can get back to Lancelin in time after a family thing for brunch in Perth.
Who will be driving on the beach in case somebody needs help?
The bombing range section was impassable last week.
Is there any sort of help on hand for when things go pear shaped?
I'm considering it! i'll let you know by thursday.
also is this a 3.5 hour ride non stop? I assume there will there be breaks at certain beaches?
We didnt know how long it was going to take on our first run. So we just went for it.
The adventure and adrenalin keeps you going.
We took a backpack with a pump, tape, sun cream ect. As noted, we will take telecommunications this time.
It's a long trip but your legs are fine, you don't feel like you have been kiting for 3 hours.
I guess because it's down wind its more relaxing than keeping ground all day.
I recon we could organize a break 2 hours into it, a bit of a rest.
Any other input would be appreciated. Thank you.
11 kiters? Hehe. That sounds like a notable risk of a drama or two on the way... I suggest to be clear about a contingency plan.
Enjoy! (the downwinder, not the walk)

Any idea on which day it is yet then? Both days look good wind wise... I'm available for both days but have a X-mas party on friday night so I would like to plan what I'm doing through the weekend. I might have to hold of on the cold ones on friday if I'm going to go to Lancelin the next day.
WOW, fair crowd now! Just to a quick mention that kitesurfwa takes no responsibility for any injuries/long walks/etc. This was originally a few of the local kitesurfwa crews typical lano mission but now seems like an organised event. THERE IS NO PLANNING, LET ALONE BACKUP PLANS!!!! Enjoy at your own risk, and your planning is THE ONLY PLANNING.
Juddy i appreciate your concern and you have raised good sound safety points, you have also probably scared the bejesus out of anyone not completely competent enough to do this DW which is a good thing.
In a straight line this is the same distance as Leighton to Scarbs the major difference is its a very isolated stretch of coastline with nobody along it. In the event something goes wrong assistance will take time.
I will have a 4wd at wedge so if anyone does need to be picked up i can come back down the beach and get you but this will of course take time.
Pfd's i will be wearing one, i propose we have a sweep and if any of you guys have flares and an epirb then bring them along.
Check all your gear you dont want a failure. This is definitely not for anyone that isn't a confident kiter with experience.
Okay boys and girls! Listen hard!
1) if you can go upwind on flat water your not going to just windsurf 50km in swell.
2) **** hits the fan, your mum can't help you this time
3) FLARES , smoke will stick low to water in windy conditions so worth 2 cents of **** all , night reds are probably better.
4) EPIRB , you would probably want to jam it up your rectum to distract yourself from the GWS circling you for the last 2 hours while the sea rescue remembers how to put the engine in reverse.
5) YOUR MUM CAN'T HELP YOU!
6) LAND BASED CREW! Worth **** all when your kite is continuously looping out of control 500m offshore and your leg is sliced open.
7) SAYING " I WISH I HAD A CORONA RIGHT NOW" won't fix the mess your in!
8) ONLY GO 80% at it since any broken bones ,, dislocations or broken lines will put you out of action and its SURVIVAL out there.
9) life jackets are GAY but will help you stay afloat long enough for mr Bitey to enjoy live food.
10) GO HOME SAFE!!
