He lost a contact lense.....
No one told us to put a spare contact lense in the safety /emergency kit.
Great safe trip. All home "at the pub" safe, well and satisfied.
Haha, hope you had a fun trip.
Unreal at horrocks today, 7m winds , heaps of swell and 3 other kiters to share it with.
Fantastic.
Dave
glad you all made it .The way this tread was talking about it seemed like you guys were just going to be fishey food . Some people just need to get out and ride and live life . stoked for you but pissed at the same time they dont do it over this side of the country . I need a hoilday on the other side .
Anybody missing a board?

Yeah Im keen as for a DW from Lano - Wedge, forecast for Sunday is a bit average at the mo, keep us updated for sure, prob make that 2 chicks maybe. Thanks
All fun and games. Until someone has a gear failure...
I heard a dude crashed his kite not even half want to Wedge today and ripped it, had to walk 3 hours back to Lancelin carrying everything and none of his mates stayed with him. Despite the sea breeze it was stinking hot all day.
Stoked he made it back ok but I have to ask how much collective thought and planning went into it?
Andy this thread started regarding organising a DW and quickly evolved into discussing the safety and planning side of it. I see nothing wrong with livening up this one and pointing out that stuff will and has gone wrong and there aren't many options available when it does. I figure its a better option than clogging up the forum with a new thread. I looked for a more relevant thread for this particular trip but couldn't see one, and still can't find it.
I stubbed my toe at pinerroo yesterday and had to walk all the way back to my car. Next time I will bring thongs because the roads so hot.
Also someone left a camel back (water bought on the DW in case someone had to walk 3 hours back due to gear failure (oh the humanity!)) in my car on the fourth (last) lancelin to Wedge in the last 2 months.
I agree with Chris. A half decent injury where you could not walk out and it is 10-15km north of Lano and a 4WD can't get in... what's the plan?
Everyone dismissed that one. In fact most people laughed it off as "nobody would ever have a problem"
An 8km walk in sand with not quite enough water would not be much fun and could be fatal.
Lano to Wedge is NOT Leighton to City Beach. All we said is "organised downwinders" in the sticks need to be organised. IE whats the plan for extracting somebody or even knowing they need to be.
There highly skilled and aware of the risks i think they quite competent Know how to read the weather and have reliable gear . They also have 4wd and saftey in numbers to run recovery if required.
Think the people who are on dirt bikes and dune buggies up in the dunes are at a far greater risk
I did the run with this group a couple of weeks back.
We had 3 x 4wds parked at the point and no not Honda CRV's
on that day i saw numerous vehicles doing the beach run from narrowneck all the way to wedge, so the beach run is accessible for that stretch, Lano to Diedy Bay may not be.
I was carrying 2 litres of water and a couple of the other guys had camel packs plus we had a pump and anytime someone stopped the whole group stopped until that person got going again.
I agree that you need to be prepared & know what to do if it all goes to SCHIZER but really some of you nanny's need to get out more.
Gotta love the condescending tone by the real true hardcore crew here. (They must be, cos they sound like they must be)
All Chris and I said was have a think, have a method of contact and have a way of getting a kiter off the beach if they come to grief. It can be hard to get in there at times.
IE don't organise a DW Lano to Wedge if you all own Commodores and nobody has driven that beach before. That's all we said.
All of a sudden it is nanny comments, not hardcore, not true aussie adventurers, keyboard jockeys. Yeah no worries. You are all true heroes.
