The real problem is the long safety leash.
In highwinds, I self-land everytime by flagging to a rear line using one of my oh-sh1ts.
There's no problem with spiralling if you know how.
Of course I don't use a death-leash so no concerns with snagging and death-looping.
OSH are a remenant from the old wrist clip safety 2 line days, get with the times.
Friends are handy in landing maybe you should try them?
