well... given that Spot X is probably the worst kept secret on the west coast here we go... it's basically a kilometer or so South from Corronation. You will need to pass through private land to get there which could proof a problem if you actually want to hold a comp there...
4WD or rental car... either will do fine...
On a different note, you see this is the problem with people holding on so tightly to their oh so secret sailing locations. Once the big bad corporations move in to build a ship loading facility you have f..k all chance to claim a social impact as few people have seen your oh so secret spot let alone have sailed there.
So wot ya sayin stegs???? are you gonna rumble in the jungle for a chance to get involved in a world known brake that is under invation by the chinese ,for a fkn once in a life time opportunity and have your say stegs???
Look, Getting into the spot will not be an issue, we've got it covered, as for Euro's in the Ozzie titles, No way.
The Ozzie titles are meant to be for amateurs not pro's , and not Euro's.
The whole point if i remember correctly is that it is a chance for amateur's to be able to get to that next level.
The whole Voltwater issue at the last WA Oz Nationals was a farce in our opinion Glenn ALexander was the real Ozzyy title holder as 1) Voltwater was a ****ing Euro and 2) Mc Kercher was still on the Pro tour, that **** didnt add up.
So thats why we raised the amateur angle.
If were gonna have pro's lets invite the best sailor in the world, Jason Polakow.
Again we are trying to get it in gero and thats where the gero crew are at.
im up for opinions and the like and its Australia's comp not just the WA crew.
Anyway im just one cat saying my **** hope noone goes into cardiac arrest.
Virgins.
there is actually a mandate that dictates all the rules and such for the nationals, and Ive never seen anything about pros or amateurs. If you look at the past winners youll find a large chunk are pros. I dont know why youde be concerned.
"just some info here, at the m/river event a great location and we had great conds
Just read the write up.
There were more euros in the comp than AUSTRALIANS WTF
It took a lot of time from john g to get this comp happening and the locals ie WA wave sailors don’t even turn up???"
Spot 1 - unfortunately the margs comp (and the nationals) happened at the same time as the Starboard and Severne photo and video shoots were being held over here in epic conditions. A large core of the WA contingent is involved with these and this had a real impact on the ability for these crew to attend those events - bit of a bugger really.. but the boys would have been at these events if not for this scheduling clash.
It certainly wasnt due to lack of interest.
I know it's very early days, but is there any chance some dates could be locked in? I know the month of January is mentioned. Something specific would help with getting off work etc...
It would be great to see pros at this comp and enter it. To say 'no' to Pros sailing in it is stupid and very negaitve towards our minimal sport.
Possibly. I really need to know the dates first up. If all good dates/money i would say definately. I think MA is keen aswell. You?
Yea probably want to go. We have little baby now so probably have To go alone
Haven't been to wa in years so looking foward to going over provided the
" global economic crisis" doesn't swallow us up. How the season been up
Your way?
I know what you mean. I thought you weretalking about overseas pros
attending. But from memory they do generally show up
if it's handy to them, Eg scotty attended lancelin and peter
Allen attended Queensland, past that I can't think of any other
true professionals in Australia ecluding grubby.
But as ballbag said " it is the autralian wavesailing titles",
not the Australian amateur wavesailian titles. The more and
the better the merrier I reckon.
Isn't the idea of the Australian Wavesailing Titles being an amateur event just down to the fact that it doesn't have prize money??
Pretty ridiculous if you're not gonna have 'pros'. The definition of a 'pro windsurfer' is pretty loose at best.
Definately Pro sailors should be allowed to enter and win! It would be awesome to see a final between australias best professional sailors, could you imagine a better final. As for Euros or other nationalities if they turn up and want to compete then they should be allowed too, however if they arent or are allowed to take a title then they should be informed from the start, not at the end if an Aussie sailor gets beaten (this happened at queensland a couple of years ago which wasnt very fair).
Geraldton has my vote as the 2010 nationals destination, we were toying with the idea of having it in NSW if no-one else was keen to run it, but WA/Geraldton is a much better option, there would definately be a strong east coast contingent heading over![]()
Well I would say if you are a legal Aussie citizen, you get to compete. If you're not and you live here and want to compete in the nationals you basically have 10 months (or there abouts) to find some aussie skank / nob head and get married.
Amature, Pro, Call girl, Lapdancer...... Whatever you want to call yourself, who gives a toss in my opinion. Surely australian citizen is all that matters if it's going to be the Australian Titiles. If it's open to all countries, then we should rename it the Australian Open Wavesailing Titiles.
Easy,
Have a Pro, Open and Euro Division, and then lets have a division of who can scruff the stinkiest Gero Scrag that can be, and bring her to the beach to let the boys decide.
The Geraldton Windsurfing Club is all for this event as is the Chapman Valley Shire, as is the local shops and other various organisation in Geraldton.
Myself, King of the Point and the above mentioned are the driving force to get this going.
Lets just get something locked in so we can begin the boring **** of actually getting dates and the like locked in.
This is the whole idea of a forum, so that the whole scene can decide what they want.
Keep this **** going.
If its in Gero it will go off.
Especially when you end up in the **** nightclubs fighting with the blacks like i was last night only to be dragged out by the bouncers and have another punch on in the car park..
**** you gotta love geraldton, sick sailing sicker nightlife.
Everyone's welcome.
lol
