Well the world did not end on May 21st as predicted by Rapture Preacher Harold Camping. And now our own Australian prophet Reflex Films may also been proved wrong.
Gennies are not the end of the world at 3 Mile Camp on Gnaraloo station as it is proposed to ban them from end of the September 2011 school holidays. This is a step to try to maintain 3 Mile Camp as a WILDERNESS TOURISM destination so that generations to come can still get away from the all encompassing commercialism and consumerism
Sentiment in the camp is mixed. Some would like to ban them immediately but there has to be a transiton period too allows people to make alternative arrangements. Others are saying they won't come back if they cannot use their generator.
If generators are banned it is proposed to increase the availability of plug spots at the shop where you can plug in an Engle fridge
good news I hate those things. Weve never had a problem camping for two weeks without power, you can buy ice form the shop, what more do you need?
Im all for it.
well i was never disturbed by the genny s the wind seems to take the sound away
i would like ti keep low db generators as they are not heard. IMFO for what its worth
but my 240v latte espresso machine, multiple electronic equipment to recharge, and my vibrating recovery back massage chair, noooooooooooo![]()
i think its a great idea, so what if you cant use your generators, dont go there then ![]()
more waves and camp spots left for us ![]()

and solar tech had come a long way since, and batteries
just get a bloody solar panel + wind generator and be done with it... plenty of people in Europe spend months at places like Tarifa and Fuertevenutra living in vans never running a generator.
Its funny how the poor without a gen set, are the ones that complain????
But are the tight arses that come to your camp site and ask if they can charge their iphone for them......yeah right .
Yeah we dont need power like all the generator loooooosers,,but can you charge my yuppie phone so I can call my mummy[}:)]
Its like music,,,,,if its too loud
your too old![]()

NA just ban them now!!!!
Thats what we need,
more council rules,
more big signs in country areas say "DONT DO -----"
Was camping not too long ago and was told to put out my camp fire.
I asked why??,,,as there was no fire dangers, been heaps of wet weather?
The answer I got was that someone from another camp site(no one for 100m by the way)might not see the fire and fall into it????WTF
Australia is turning into a nanny country cause all the oldies have nothing better to do than write to councils and local newspapers complaining about everthing.
Its a big fricken country,,,if someone near you is a bit too noisey,as we all are sometimes,,,,how hard is it to camp a bit further away????
It always amazes me when there is miles of area to camp,,and you get some old couple camp as close to you as they can,,,then complain about any noise????
If there are other people camping,,,we usually try and camp as far away as possible from everyone else. Why set up right in someones hip pocket???????then complain if someone farts??????
Yep..time to put up even more signs, rules and regulations,,,,,,,yaaaay,,go the nannys
You can tell the amount of old age pensioners on here as to the amount of red thumbs this will probly get![]()

Go for it Markie![]()
Lotofwind, don't really think bans by council and Govt is a valid analogy here.... Gnaraloo is private property and they allow people to camp there. The majority have complained about gensets used by a few, so the owners have chosen to ban them.
PS: GBoss good on you for posting here so people know and don't get caught short when they arrive and have assumed they can still use them
"The times they are a changing" Bob Daylen. Your guys era.
But you havent listened to him and still live back then.
Next you oldies will be saying "no motor powered vehicles,,, only horse and cart like the good old days..." \
The past is in your head,,,the futures in our hands,,,,,,,,living end
Talk about Dylan-esque protest songs.. How about this, if anybody starts a generator at a campsite, everyone else should get together, get drunk and sing this song on repeat until 3am.. with adjusted lyrics.. Then at 3:30am when Jerks complain we catch some campsite rats and shoot them at the yuppies with a Potato Cannon..
Waaahoooaaaaahhhaaaaaooooahahhawaawawaaawoooow
Lotofwind, pretty much every post that you have made in the last month ends up banging on about the older generation. You seem to have some sort of fixation on this subject. Do not concern yourself, you will reach middle age soon enough. Perhaps you would find some comfort in some counselling.![]()

P.S first time I've ever used those little face thingys
Sorry, thought you were female from the name![]()
If there is a rumour on the web ,its gotta be true.![]()
Na,I only have one profile.
One of the windsurfers on here and I pretend we were the same person mucking around and a couple of people got all upset that they fell for it.![]()

GBoss, great work.
Is this the start of things to come ?
Returning it to a wilderness style camp ground will appeal to many. Hopefully the next step may involve forcing campers to deal with their own rubbish ?
Lotofwind needs to go back to school...he/she/it seems to have some issues with spelling, not to mention comprehension!
;)
Perhaps the manufactures of camper trailers should be held to account or at least provide an alternative. I recolect two new fancy looking camper trailers turning up one time, (next to us) awnings out, boats on the roof of the brand new 4wd's, large outside floor coverings installed, with a massive gazebo over, next thing was the gen sets coming out, and being taken away at least the length of one extension lead. Next thing the genies on most of the day......This thread has made me think that these "campervans and trailers" are no doubt fully wired up with battery banks on board to run the fridge and the internal lighting etc.. and as such do not operate without the obligatory "re charge" perhaps the hirer or the purchuser succuming to the latest and greatest dosen't even question this?
Dont get me wrong we have an engel and a camper van, but find with dual batteries in the car, led lighting in the van, a big esky with ice and the old gas light, as well as the fire!! is enough to keep us going for two weeks. No worries.
I reckon some just dont see an alternative?
Great move, generators are for soft c#cks who have little to no regard to other campers peace and quiet. I've had to turn off those cheap noisy GMC generators after 11pm myself when they left them running, and have you noticed they put them closer to your tent than theirs. I've had no problems running my fridge off my car and have left early because of them.
This thread could be worth emailing to the booking office.
