The Ledge to lancelin 2010 event is on its way!
Its getting bigger every year!
With Epic race, wave and party times!
Lancelin go BOOM! http://exposureroom.com/32bea7b10aba4dbb9a1c81927e946243/
Perfect timing Matt…
We have just finalized the updated entry page for the 2010 event; you can find it @ www.lancelinoceanclassic.com.au
Why not enter today as the earlier you enter the better start position you will recieve.
The 2010 event will be the 25th Anniversary of the Lancelin Ocean Classic so if you have entered in the past why not make the 25th Anniversary a good excuse to give it another crack.
If you have never competed in the event before why not make 2010 your year???
As it is the 25th Anniversary I can promise you it will be the best ever… more details to come
Thats what I thought too but last year when we went to fill in the entry form they allready had the printout. Just post the cheque and it will be done (I hope).
Hi Guys,
We have tested the rego system at our end and everything looks ok.
If you are having problems please continue to let us know so we can try and find a solution.
Sorry for the problems.
Rob
Hi Stringer,
Thanks for the message.
Everything looks ok at our end as we are receiving emails. The site was down for a few hours on the weekend but should be cool now.
Maybe give it another try and if you are still having problems please let me know.
Rob
great vid, you guys putting in the effort to keep the lanno classic going is awsome.
We were a bit worried with the axing of most the wa circuit due to lack of sponnos,
but the work that the officials and sponsorship has put in to the worlds best windsurfing race has kept it alive and its getting better.
Ive seen most of the ups and downs of windsurfing in the last 15 years but its the lanno that always is on the up. You know you can catch up with the old (and the new) crew on the 2nd weekend in January, Its our favorite day of the year!
Ive got a wedding on the.... 9th of jan
of all the days in the year! how selfish some people are. so ill see yuz all at the waves, and mabe the slalom, or i could wag the wedding?
Cheers to all
PS bring back the screem'n Leem'n!
yeah you dudes are right, people get married heaps of times during the year, but the ledge to lano, well thats a once a year event!
Me and my friends are definitelly going this year for the first time.
Not sure what to expect there though.
Could someone help us to better understand what's happening on the day:
1. Is there time to see the Ledge Point start, jump in the car, get to Lancelin, find the parking and see the first arrivals
2. Can you rent any gear there on the day, or would it be impossible due to the number of people getting the same idea
3. Are the shallows too busy on the race day to have a picnic and sail around a bit
Or maybe just describe what do people usually do on the race day (apart from drinking :-).
G'day Obelix
1. Yes. The first racers in will finish the 26km course in just on 30 minutes, so if spectators watch the first five minutes or so, they should be on the beach in front of the pub in Lancelin in time to see the finish.
2. No, you can't rent gear on the day, and seriously I wouldn't recommend you tackle an ocean race like this on gear you have never used before anyway. You can hire gear in Perth and take it with you.
3. You can have a picnic and a sail on race day in Ledge Point or Lancelin no problem at all.
The best advice I can give is to get there early so you have plenty of time to tune your gear and get yourself organised.
Also, there aint much shade in Ledge Point so WEAR SUNSCREEN!
I guess this is the best topic to answer the question that I've been asked a lot lately - no, we will not be taking a helicopter to Lancelin this year. After 3 year's of providing the photos/video at next to no cost to the organizer's they have decided in their infinite wisdom that it is too expensive to have a helicopter for the race.
My online registration worked OK, so it might be good to go now.
The most troubling question was the Sail number, as I don't have one.
I made one up WA8888, but how do I set this bit right?
Or as long as it is unique am I OK?
Woops, did not get the email confirmation so maybe it didn't work ![]()
Exposure is why the ledge is the longest running windsurfing race, (no not the nuddie runners on the pub roof) and the last 3 years have been getting bigger each time, partially due to the chopper and man behind the lens. Media love the footage, spectators love it and it adds to the event atmosphere.
Bring back the chopper and funny little dude taking pics!
Would love to the this race, what standard do I need to be? I had my first lessons in safety bay, when I was on holiday in WA last january and will be back again this year.
Any 'training grounds' around perth I could test my self on the week before to gauge my suitabilty? X runs in Y minutes etc?
I work on the theory if you can sail in the ocean for more than an hour without stopping to rest then you have minimum fitness for the race. The adrenaline on the day helps a bit. The other tip is to replace every rope, I still remember breaking both my downhaul and outhaul in my first L2L - (back when they had the triathlon and the guys doing the next leg - cycling I think it was, were really annoyed at waiting for me !)
I spent May and June on the Croatian middle coast (before you ask, there was no wind), and there was a guy recoding a promotional video on a remote controlled toy helicopter, for a fraction of the cost.
Would this be an option ? At least you could cover the launch, and the arrival.
A compromise...![]()
