Rate you summers windsurfing on a scale of ten where

Zero indicates your dead, i.e. not going to do very much windsurfing but can probably still post on forums ( good money to be had if you can prove this to the Australian Sceptics Association) and still go kiting (this only requires a couple of mates familiar with the film “Weekend at Bernie’s” and some gaffer tape. Without to much effort your corpse will be flying across the beach, water, car park and no one will realise you are actually dead.

Ten might indicate the time was spent roaming the globe visiting windy and deserted beaches.

My best summer for at least a decade.
- 1 for losing a couple of weeks due to a sprained ankle
- 1 for 4/5 days of zero wind during my holiday booked expressly for windsurfing
- 1 now that school is back, for my kids booking up 4 afternoons per week with after school activities that I need to drive them to!

which leaves 7/10

Not good,
So far 4 or 5 sails. Moving from Hobart to the North Shore of Sydney wasn't such a good move, 19 sails last year with a great regular seabreeze.
I guess south of the Harbour could have made it more windy, hopeless here.
But at least my boys have enjoyed starting on flat water and under 10 knts.
And I definitely enjoyed the surf.
Hopefully it will come stronger in the next months.

10+ .......then my two 3 year olds woke me up and my wife was saying something about her going to work

wouldn't change a thing except the days of the week that the wind blows on

-3 due to going down the coast for the weekend a few times and not getting much wind.
-3 for all the rain and lack of wind for about a month after Christmas
-1 for when the southerlies did blow they were often too strong for me and then too light

+1 for a nice sail last Sunday in the rain and a light southerly wind. It didn't really feel like summer but I guess it was

So in the end that works out to be 4.

Bit soon to call it...we should get at least another 6 weeks of (semi)regular wind in WA.

Having said that it's been 8/10 for me. 25 sessions since the start of October, which is when the 'summer' season in WA gets underway. Had some corkers, cracked 40K , finished my first LOC, had heaps of wind for both the Lano and South Beach slalom events, and a couple of great sessions down in Mandurah.

Only thing I haven't managed to do is go wavesailing, but now I've got the 40K monkey off my back I'm gonna try and remedy that.

Can't really complain about lack of TOW in WA, it isn't always hell windy, but if you've got some larger kit there's plenty of sailing to be had.

I think you need to work on your arithmetic

I get minus 6.

I started at 10
10 -3 = 7
7 - 3 = 4
4 - 1 = 3
3 + 1 = 4

sorry about the confusion. I would have thought if it was a negative number you went kiting.

8-9 getting a 24.66 knot alpha and doing 221km distance another day,the north east breezes really brought up the rating.

Bugger, know the feeling. I suffered an injury at the end of January last year and didn't get back on a board till October. Fortunately for me there were not that many windy days in Sydney during those months.

there is a trend developing here. NSW scoring low everywhere else high. time to move to WA.

first half of the SEQ season was crapola. i'd give it a 2.

the second half is looking the goods,

it's been 15-20 everyday this week and some good SE winds before that. so i'm giving the 2nd half a 9 so far

so all up 5.5/10

Was going to rate it 5 because of lack of wind.

...but had a few full-on sessions including waves & some reasonable jumps, so I'll give it a 6.

...and because it is Western Vic, I should judge it what's actually expected, and not against WA or where all the good wind is...so 7.

...and because I'm a proud dad that saw his 6yo sail non-assisted...8.

...yep, that'll do it 8/20!

Low, very low, maybe 3.

Moved from WA to NSW start of the summer. September to November not too bad, since then not too good.

Only been back to WA once, but at least it was for the LOC weekend - but I was in Newman working.

But I would still Mark_australia 10 /10.
