this is starting to get to me- ride what you want to ride, tell everyone how much you enjoy it, don't make ridiculous claims, wear what you want to wear, don't rag on other peoples choices in kites-fashion-food-lifestyle etc....
For my last say on this topic- the ones who come off the water smiling are the winners, they don't care if you think their reel leash looks dorky, or their raley was performed with their kite at lunch, they don't even care if they're using backless bindings or footstraps
, they are just stoked on life and having a good time...
I have a naish and a cabrinha, the cab is a much better kite and definately quality material.
8 meter switchblade is my main kite in WA and has sustained a pounding for over 2 years without any problems.
Until this coming kitestock and the opportunity to try the other brands,I will keep on enjoying my cab totally unafected by your rant!
PS:unfortunately I don't own an impact vest, seat harness or retractable leash and I certainly don't wear boardies on my wetty so let me know if anyone has the above gear for free so I can join the club.

Always good to get the Cab bashing out of the way early in the season....Jealousy is a curse I tell ya.
OK........so you really want to know why there are so many Cabs on the beach. Apart from being fairly good quality, design, flying, jumping, turning speed, etc etc(ok not No1 at anything, but very good at everything)....that is not the reason.
The reason you see them lots is that the shops get the greatest profit margin on these kites.... so you get a good quality/performance kite and shops get the best profit...so which one are they going to push..... SS is stupidly expensive(apart from t3 etc)but you get Ok kite with good quality, Best is getting more expensive but the quality and material on some is questionable, ozone - good quality, pricey, and not everyone cup of tea to fly, north - depends if you get a lemon, quality is hit and miss, naish.....well, naish riders are naish riders, there is always going to be that funny looking kid who bangs his head and licks the bus windows.....don't worry, your f-ing special..........
Anyway, that the way i see it...only my opinion.. Have owned a few and flown most, the most important thing is that you enjoy your ride and get out there....
From the number of posts and after reading some of them it's obvious it doesnt matter whether you fly cabs or any other kite,the wanker factor is rife across the board.!
And as for Hudson making a comment he's not the sort of guy to get caught up in verbal diarrhea,which is the kind of guy you want representing a brand.
If you are more concerned about you image than improving your skills on the water then its your loss.
When you spot a kiter who's less than confident you wish they were on a Cab so your chances of being taken out are somewhat reduced!!

While they tried to conduct this training session covertly, the boardies over the coveralls was a dead giveaway. Our "friend" overheard a conversation about a lightweight carbon fibre cab cherry picker with quick release system for next season.....
when i was a windsurfer (!) i used to love the fact that me and my brother would rock up to the beach in last years hand-me-downs bought cheap off the cool kids, and enjoy the scornful looks they cast our way as much as we enjoyed their dropped jaws when the 'kooks' went and trashed the cr#p out of the gear which was a) cheap enough to attempt death-loop-copter-crashes b)actually only a graphic design different to the new season stuff anyway. the coolest kids were then the ones having the most fun.
unfortunately kite gear is progressing quickly and old gear, is, actually, old gear.
it took me a long while to get past the 'try-hard-moto-cross' married with some kind of 80's Hang Ten look that the kite style had. i really did think the whole sport looked like a bunch of t0ssers. now it was my turn to challenge my scorn.
in the end the actual fun and enjoyment of the sport won me over and i took it on.
yes, to a large slice of the public it is a thrilling looking sport. however, to a lot of people in other watersports or thrill sports, we actually look a bit lamo with our flouro and skull logos and pirate symbols and all that other stuff i used to draw on my books in school.
if your in it to look cool, well good on you... it only proves your a kn0b.
if your having fun, then forget about what all the posers think, you will still be having fun kiting, when SUP boarding with a hot air balloon is the new cool and the t0ssers have moved on.
