No.
If there is sufficient breeze at 14:30, we go. So approx. 16 knots plus @ Leighton is the minimum.
There are 1001 * other * elements to consider ... Breeze is just one!
Couldn't agree more with dachopper. I was hoping for decent accuracy. Trac trac that the 505's use is 100% better. At one stage my mate was doing 583kn?? Rubbish. Not worth the $$ even if it was only 2.99. That's half a schooner at the bowlo.
Yup. Couldn't make it so I did the app thing too.. What a crock of turd burger... :(
big thanks to the volunteers on the beach at rotto . After my equipment malfunction on the beach as i was about to start they got me going within 5 minutes and i ended up being able to complete the race .
It was awesome! Thanks everyone for very enjoyable afternoon!
Was hoping to buy some shirts or some gadgets like I do on the Red Bull Air Race in Perth. Maybe next year:)

Yeah, hats off to the organisers who did a splendid job. Thanks to the volunteers and the Red Bull gilrs, who were absolutely awesome, and to my dear friend Alan aka Swingininthewind , who after lettin me know he beat me, let me take his ute home. I now have a lot of respect for the Mitsu Triton, the Holden SS ute has lost its place as the donut king since yesterday avo

Great event again, Thanks to Tim, all the sponsors, WAKSA and especially the volunteer who saved me 3 minutes before the race when I was all thumbs trying to sort out my lines for the 6th time.

Results!
Congratulations to all Johhno, Dale, Phil and Keira and all competitors who completed the 2012 Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton.
As well as BIG thank you to ALL the Volunteers and especially to the two finish teams who surveyed (late in to the night) over 700 photographs, video footage and Yellow Brick data (which as we discovered did not work to our expectation) to deliver the attached results sheets. It is an unenviable and difficult task trying to record the finishers!
A full printed list with your
name and time will be delivered as soon as possible.
Big thanks to all involved for a great day, big thanks to Tim for giving me the chance to race this year after trying 3 times.
Special mention to hewey for turning on the conditions. ![]()
I'm still stoked.
Thanks to everyone who made this event happen!
I decided to give the 16m a crack thinking the wind would hover around 17knots max. What a mistake that was.
I made 2 tacks and couldn't keep my board on the water. With 26min to the final gun I bit the bullet and thought - gotta swap kites.
Sprinted like Usane Bolt back to where the kites were packed up. Found the 9m and ran back to the beach.
The whole time thinking I might waste this opportunity to have a cracker of a race and miss the start.
Kite getting pumped was all good, my lines were all tangled up ( Slingshot put some colour in your lines please, white on white - you get the picture)
After much heartbeat and adrenalin kite was launched with 6min before the gun!!!Woooooooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooo
The 9m Fuel felt perfect!
I made my way north to the natural jetty and just with 35 seconds to go slowly moved to the start. I finished 24 (I think) in 32 min. But when I really think about it my race stated the moment I decided to swap kites.
Thank you Issac, the one armed volunteer who helped me out. Aussie champ.
That's my second race and hands down my favorite.![]()
